I usually divide batsman + batting all-rounders and bowlers + bowling all-rounders. To be honest, Wally has a decent record but he would be playing here only cause of his keeping and not the batting.

Even Harvey and Cowdrey were poor in the Ashes.
Yeah I must admit I was quite shocked to see Harvey's average under 40 vs England.

I guess we tend to expect some of the good players to average 50, but in reality 40 is a solid average in Australia vs England matches.

I'm looking for the strongest overall side personally, as opposed to the best performed in the Ashes
Fair enough, I've been looking for some underrated players who played some of their best cricket in Ashes contests.
