*Official* Pakistan v South Africa in Dubai

With the weather and pitch conditions, the draw is definitely the favourite. The SA attack looked pretty rooted towards the end of the last test. Won't be easy to bowl Pakistan out twice.

Little under 250 overs to go. Plenty of time and RSA are just two wickets away from getting into unknown territory.

Is it not possible to have pitches made in the subcontinent where we can have bounce and seam? Is it possible in the technical sense??? I mean can the ground staff prepare a bouncy pitch or is it in the make up of the soil and the weather that such pitches cannot be made in Asia?

There used to be a fantastic turf @ Mohali and it still is a productive one and even Motera, Ahmedabad assists bowlers these days.

So is it possible to have lively pitches in the SC. I haven't seen any (only heard about Mohali though). And in the last test played there it was not lively.

It was very slow and low on day 1, but day 5 offered a lot of inconsistent bounce with some balls really rearing up.

Personally, I would be dead against India preparing a bunch of greentops for Test cricket, why squander our home advantage? :p Would rather the more sporting wickets were kept for domestic cricket to encourage young pace bowlers to come through.

I wouldn't call inconsistent bounce as a lively pitch. Home advantage is fine but then why do Pakistan always prepare roads? I feel that it might not be all that easy to prepare lively pitches here in the SC. Might have to do with the climate and the soil. Not sure though. Maybe somebody can shed some light on it.
