With the Test team named tonight, did Husssey pay North off not to enforce the follow on, so he could have one last innings to impress? :)

Edmondson's averaging 186 with the ball while going at 5.47rpo this season; has to be close to the axe, especially since the backup bowlers did a decent job against England.

Victoria definitely seem keen on finding Sheridan a role in the setup, don't they? From what I can gather he's basically a fourth seamer and a number eight bat at First Class level, but they've tried him in several roles including one day opening batsman, and First Class batting allrounder in this game. Probably would've played effectively as a specialist batsman had McDonald not got injured, but he's bowling first change in the second innings now too, I see. They must really see something in him.
They basically picked him as a specialist batsman I guess today, like how Quiney batted at 7 earlier this season, because with McDonald fit he was only going to get a few token overs like the first innings (he managed to take some early poles, so kept on bowling). Really surprised that he was selected in front of Carters, who has a lot of runs on the board.

In the OD games, Victoria are looking at using a pinch-hitter to take toll of the first five overs, rather than have a Hodge or Finch go too hard at the start and lose their wicket, because five overs is a short time to take risks with the field inside the circle in a 45 over game. The candidates they've been looking at since the warm-up games have been Maxwell and Sheridan.

Yeah he was only the sixth best bowler in the side for this match, which is why I was so suprirsed he was picked. Would've thought there were at least a few players ahead of him based on batting alone especially, as you mentioned, Carters.

From the look of things Hussey is absolutely destroying the Victorian attack, he truly had his back to wall and he seems to have come out in the mood to counter-attack. Great to see this positive intent from him, hope this is a sign of things to come!!

The definition of stupidity is to keep doing the same thing and yet expect a different result. Mussey has been at the heart of our batting collapses over the last two and half years, collapses which have cost us big-ticket series. If they pick him yet again...I mean, 35 year olds are unlikely to improve

I really hope that Lynn can make a big ton here to lead QLD to glorious victory.

Nice to see the Tozzies beat the evil Blues as well.

Well if we're going to lose I don't mind it being to Tasmania because half their players are former Sydney grade cricketers anyway.

Seriously mate.... why do you keep saying that; when most of the dominant test batsmen around the world are either close to 35 or 35 plus!!
Because Hussey's not one of the dominant test batsmen in the world at the moment. If he does come back to form, which seems unlikely, how long do we get out of him? A year?

Hopefully, today is an indication he's about to do something good at test level. Not that confident though.

In case people haven't seen it yet, highlights for the first 3 days of the Tas vs. NSW game have been uploaded on cricketnsw.com.au. Lots of footage of Copeland bowling too - he looks seriously impressive. Definately has some similiarities with McGrath imo.
