I watched it too and I watched what happened when Gayle didn't play in the Windies 20/20 game against Zim...

They were nothing without Gayle.
Lol come off it that team was packed full of youngsters like Barath, Darren Bravo and Andre Fletcher, the first two were making their t20 debuts!!, i also think after Benn ran through Zim our batsmen got a little slack and thought it would be a walk in the park!!.. same thing happened in the first ODI.

While there may be some emerging youngsters, Gayle plays such an important role in the team. Along with Chanderpaul, albeit who seems to be in decline, they've kept the batting together for the Windies since the retirement of BLC.

True, but the youngsters will be knocking on the door hard within a year imo, Hughes and Brathwaite will be ready made replacements and i can't wait to see them bat alongside Barath and Darren Bravo, there will also be exciting times ahead when Shannon Gabriel hit the big stage!!.. if you think Roach is fast you wait till you see this lad!! , i know i can get carried away but these youngsters will be the real deal imo.

Shilly is giving your batsmen hell right now and i'm hoping we bring on Gayle to back him up!!.. i'd imagine Roach and Russell will come out blazing after lunch so lord knows what will happen!!.. that first session was certainly ours though!! .
Somehow it has managed to rain. Good that it is raining or otherwise SL is at distinct disadvantage by having to play under overcast conditions. Mahela has got himself in to a tangle against Shillingford, but Samaraweera is playing him with utmost ease. Mathews will struggle against him, but expect some fireworks if he gets to bowl to PJ.

So what's the state of play now then? we had SL is serious trouble yesterday and Mehila was on the ropes!!, we get another one early then things will get very interesting, the follow on is 340!!, i hope we can nick it but yesterdays rain might have saved SL.

Windies in such a good position to win this test match. Hopefully play starts as scheduled
Been watching the game GS? if so what are your thoughts about the team and where we can improve? i have to be honest i don't think Sammy should be in this side, Shilly and Benn in the next test could cause all sorts of problems imo.

Yeah Sammy really ruins it a bit doesn't he.
He does and the selectors are gonna have a huge problem ahead of the next test, the way i see it is..

Strike bowlers= Roach and Russell

Medium-fast= Bravo

Spinners= Shilly and Benn

Plus Benn's batting has improved ten fold of late so he can still add a few runs down the order, at the end of the day we have to think about whats best for the team and not one individual.

Gayle
Barath
Darren Bravo
Chanders
Nash
Dwayne Bravo
Baugh
Russell
Benn
Shilly
Roach

Would be my side heading into the next test, whether it will happen remains to be seen though.

They won't drop the skipper after one test, especially not one going this well. I think Sammy has something to offer the West Indies, but Sri Lanka is not the sort of place he should be bowling. I think he'd be gun in England though.

Hope the West Indies, New Zealand and Pakistan knock off some heavyweights in their respective series.

Mahela gone early. No one watching this? What are WI's chances of cleaning up the tail cheaply if they pick up another one or two wickets? With the likes of Roach, you'd expect them to do a good job...

We've been all over them this morning!!, a number of close calls and the wicket was alwasy coming, and it's the third session now when we've struck early, Shilly's bowling really well and Roach has been on fire, looking forward to seeing what Russell can come up with though!!, we nick another one before then SL will really be up against it.

Wow! Bravo does make things happen doesn't he? Windies on top here. Terrible way to go for Samaraweera.

Very lucky yes but what the heck we'll take it!! , vital wicket before lunch and the start of the next session could be key, get Mathews early and we're right into the tail.

Inspired move to bring on Shillingford in the last over before lunch with Mathews on strike. Fantastic session for WI and they are right on top now surely.
