C'mon mate... he needs some time before he gets picked for Australia, but he looks a pretty decent prospect.Oh how I wish you were kidding.
Seems about as threatening a bowler as Brooke Walker, though.
Welcome to the forum Robin. No logic of dropping Huss for the 1st test now. They should've done that after the Ashes last year and should have blooded Khwajha then to give him time to mature but they didnt do that and dragged Hussey all this far.You dont want to throw in a debutant for an Ashes opener
Agree, Pietersen debuted in 05 Ashes, huge risk dropping Thorpe who was England's best batsman vs Australia in the past, but boy did it pay off for them. Its still a cricket series, they are all important, Ashes shouldnt be treated any differently.Welcome to the forum Robin.
I slightly disagree with not blooding someone because it's an Ashes opener. From my persepective, England are hardly a superpower - not anything like the Windies of the 1980s or Australia in the 2000s. Rather, England are ranked fourth in the World, and a debutant batsman has nothing to fear or be intimidated about, coming up against the Poms - solid side that they are.
Yup, great example actually. Was bold of the English selectors but geez was it rewarded. The Aussie selectors should read what's staring them in the face.Agree, Pietersen debuted in 05 Ashes, huge risk dropping Thorpe who was England's best batsman vs Australia in the past, but boy did it pay off for them. And a bad example was the 94/95 Ashes, England picked Gooch and Gatting, enormous fail that selection. They did have a fairly young team anyway but Gatting in particular was an awful choice, Gooch you could kind of underatdn, but looked woefully out of touch all through the series, no surprise at all they both retired DURING the Perth test.Yup, great example actually. The Gat did get a good ton in Adelaide, but agreed that in the main it didn't work out.And a bad example was the 94/95 Ashes, England picked Gooch and Gatting, enormous fail that selection. At the moment we are looking pretty ****ed for the ashes lol. Ponting, Hussey, North, Watson, Katich all failing... May Bradman rise from the grave and save us...
