***Official*** Australian Domestic Season 2010/11

State Captain
If McDonald can get back to back 100s he will definitely jump back onto the selectors radar. Has been pretty disappointing letting Victoria off the hook when we had them on the rope.

Pretty sure everyone knows my long connection with Ronnie (having grown up playing a fair bit of backyard cricket with him) so I'm just going to say this:

Legend.

As i said earlier, it's unlikely that Ponting will have a good Ashes.

These are the reasons:

1. likely to be troubled by bouncers (should give up on the pull-shot)
2. age is catching up - reflexes aren't as good (should move down the order)
3. low on confidence due to average form
4. Swann a big threat (should be an interesting battle)
5. his technique is not so good when the balls nipping back or swinging back (although there won't be much swing in the series anyways)
6. Captaincy pressure especially if the team is not doing so well.

However, he is a great player so you never know. He might surprise us.
Really? Looked alright in India.

And Swann's a big threat if Ponting's left-handed...

We could look at replacing Ponting with McDonald though (and making him captain) after today's performance.

Yeah you can't write him off yet (although I definately don't have utmost confidence in him succeeding in these Ashes). As Son Of Coco said, he did well in India, and that was after two failed innings as well. So anything is still possible...I feel if he does well in his first innings at the Gabba (i.e. a big century) he could dominate throughout the entire series. However, if he fails in the first test, I don't think his confidence will be at the level required for a great performance across the series.

McDonald WAFG.

Possibly the finest individual game in recent Shield history. Can anyone rate someones game better? Considering the opposition, the situation he has batted in, and even his catch off the bowling of Hastings. Incredible performance. I hope he bags a haul in the NSW innings.
