No! You lost your chance with your lack of faith and patriotism. I am replacing you with MorgieB to join Shri in the bollywood routine. :p

But, jokes apart, in all honesty, no I am not in any way overreacting to the win today. Because, despite the timing of my post suggesting so, this is in no way a thought that brushed my mind after the match. It has been something in my heart, my mind, my soul for a while now. You may say I am being unreasonable, but so was Sehwag when he hit a 6 to bring up his 300.

The confidence and ease with which India gathers wins in India, it is remarkable. I really don't see the current Australian team as a threat to India in the coming months. India is in a very strong position at the moment, everything is working out well for them in lead up to the big event. With Sachin's blistering form that I can very well see continuing in the next year, India will peak come WC time. India is doing their part of winning often, and with great ease (whether it's Tests or ODIs)... It's time their fans start doing their part, and that is believing. Every game, every match, from the most meaningless to the WC Finals, we need to believe. Because when Sachin carries that cup above his head, I want to hold my head up high and say, yes I believed!! :)
There was similar talk before the 1987 world cup as well. In fact India and Pakistan were favorites to at least reach the finals. Imran wanted to retire after the 1987 world cup and he did too. Those Pakistan and India sides were pretty good too. And Pakistan was lead exceptionally well in 87.

All it took was one bad day for both India and Pakistan in the semis. And they both got knocked out. I think India will falter once again in the semis. I won't be surprised if history repeats itself.

In 96 too they were reasonably good at home but lost in the semis to the Lankans. SL side looks very good for this WC IMO.

Yeah I was curious as to why they chose South African players to do it as well.

I assume that's what you are referring to
think of the amount of fun we can have posting that pic or referencing drowning/choking on water when SA make the semis:ph34r:

Sachin has played in 5 WCs so far and the 2011 edition will be his 6th equaling Miandad for the most number of WC participations.

Miandad made his debut in 1975 so he was lucky to play 6 WCs. Sachin had he been able to debut 2 yrs earlier would have had his 7th WC.

If Bradman was born 50 years later, he probably would've played in 7 too.
Not to mention Sobers, Cowdrey, WG Grace....
LOL......you guys missed the point..........and took it in a totally different direction.....although in retrospect it does seem a little silly.....

I meant that Sachin would have realistically had a really good chance of playing 7 WCs.

Wouldn't be shocked to see him still playing in 4 years, but he'll likely retire from ODIs after this WC.

Sri Lanka and India should both fancy their chances of winning this one. Both are in red-hot form, and the conditions will be in their favour.

Pakistan are impossible to predict : they may lose to Canada and then go on to beat Australia; their chances really depend on which Pakistan turn up next year. Also, they are playing most of their matches in Sri Lanka, which means their tosses might have a say in determining their fate.

England have a good side on paper, but I don't see them going all the way. Ditto with South Africa and New Zealand.

West Indies and Bangladesh may cause a couple of upsets, but their chances of lifting the coveted trophy are virtually nil, in my opnion.

The current World Champions are nowhere near the side they once were, but they pose the single biggest threat to Sri Lanka and India. The law of averages is not on their side though.
