Zaheer takes 3-77 @ 25.67. Not that great by his 2010 standards. In fairness though, He was robbed off a wicket in the first Innings.

It's astonishing that NZ took 20 Indian wickets, which Australia was not able to do in both tests despite the Indian batting line-up being mildly affected by injuries against Australia and one of NZ's two pacers being injured.

Pitches much more helpful to bowlers in the Oz tests too. Terrific cricket from NZ

Never been much of a Harbhajan fan but that was a fantastic interview. He was uncharacteristically humble there and good on him too! It was fantastic to see him pay tribute to the likes of Sachin, Sehwag and Laxman and I liked how he put over the fact that saving the game was more important to him than his century. It's probably the best interview he's given after performing well.

This Ahmedabad wicket seriously needs improving.
Too flat on most occasions and slow as well.Makes for really boring cricket.

Full credit to Martin. But this Indian lineup should not allow one bowler bowling a world-class spell to run through it like a knife through butter. If there was relentless pressure from both ends, it would be understandable. With all respect to Martin, Steyn will be producing spells that are twice as threatening as his, at much greater pace, with much more frequency in SA. The other bowlers will also back him up better. So we should be doing a much better job in seeing off threatening spells.

Having said that, our batting hasn't collapsed in a heap too often in the last couple of years (Steyn did it earlier this year and now Martin has) so I won't be too critical. I would love to have a Dravid in his 2002-05 form in this lineup because you just knew that he would grit out some tough periods and make it easier for the batsmen coming after him. Nowadays he seems to have lost that ability.

In the first innings surely it was a huge dosage of complacency and laziness for many of the wickets. Can't see any Indian ever getting lazy or complacent against us.

As much as I'd love the Kiwis to finish this off, I just don't see it. Something will get in the way - whether it's Laxman getting into one of his "I'm not getting out today" moods, Harbhajan hitting a helicopter shot filled 50 (pointless stat: I was there when he made his FC high score), or, and I fear this is most likely, NZ ending up 4/20 and bottling it.

It's a question of having the belief to keep their feet on Indian throats - and I'm not sure they've got it.

I would love to be wrong.
Should have put money down. Unfortunately my Harbhajan trivia is now defunct...

Whatever it takes!!!
Nah, If we prepare a pitch extremely helpful to spin, ICC will be breathing down our neck for preparing unsporting pitches.

Yet, If one of the nations with good pacers prepare a very green seaming pitch, nothing happens.
wel.. for some odd reason, difficult to bat on against seamers = sporting pitch.. difficult to bat on against spinners (mostly because those batsmen have no ****ing clue on batting against spin to begin with) = raging turners... 8-)

People seem to forget that both times when we came from behind to tie the series against SA, they got the opportunity to bat first. Hardly like they were batting last on a wearing wicket and hence got run through.

why duz this happen to nz... Im sick of tail enders spoiling and dashing our hopes...
TBF, they only had 3 bowlers. :) Great effort by the Kiwis.

I have often said this but WI used to be THE #2 team for me.. But after joining CW, I have definitely started liking NZ, England and Pak a LOT more.. The posters are the main reason, tbh. Most, if not all, of them are really great and makes me want to root for them more often. :)

Ever since we got owned by SA in 2008 they've made it ridiculously flat.

The Martin spell seriously flatters this pitch. If the curator is justifying himself because of yesterday's wickets someone better ****ing slap him.

He exists.

The inevitable draw will be a fantastic result for us, but it could have been so much more.:(

Hope Arnel and Southee come in next test for Patel and Bennett (presume he's out?).
Funny how some of the revered (and rich) guys like Sachin, Rahul etc. never did anything for a cricket team. Bhajji went out and got some people to sponsor basic cricket accessories for the Zim team recently.. Really think he is hated on just for the sake of it by most, if not all, here...

Harbhajan definitely seems like a massive dickhead on the field but he could obviously just be one of those ultra-competitive people who's nice off the park. I've met plenty of those playing cricket.

I hope I'm not the only NZ fan who isn't so immune to incredible failure that he can still see that this is one of the most woeful days of test cricket ever, by any team, ever.

When Dhoni got out we should've been 10/1 on to win. India needed a maiden test century, by a batsman becoming the first player in 75 years to score a 50 and a 100 in the same test from #8, to avoid defeat. And yet, if you'd asked me for a prediction this morning, I would've said something very close to what happened.

And finally, how is it that I'm the only one who can see what a useless ******* **** ***** **** **** Vettori is??? How bad was it to see him celebrating joyously when he dismissed Laxman via a disgraceful decision from a disgraceful appeal after a day of captaining one of the most disgraceful days of test cricket imaginable??

Not a bad performance all up though
You are the "half empty" guy, aren't you? :p
