I hardly think Bennett is as bad as you're making out. Looks okay for a #10 to me. Let's not forget that classic England tail of Caddick-Mullally-Giddins-Tufnell (if I remember rightly). Bennett looks better than Mullally and definitely better than Giddens or Tufnell. Even looks less unco than Iain O'Brien.
