Not saying that Dravid is playing too slow here but he is killing Sehwag's momentum by keeping him off strike. Would blame him if Sehwag throws his wicket away with a rash shot. Dravid should start getting singles asap.

FFS, go away and watch T20.
This is Test Cricket Of which era?

Pre-1900's?

Think the contrast with Viru exacerbates it a little, but still it is test match cricket.
I know it is a test match and Batting with sehwag exaggerates but a strike rate of 19 is still ridiculously slow.

He is taking momentum away from Sehwag with no rotation of strike and i am worried it could lead to loss of concentration for Sehwag.
Also with Dravid's current form ,he is more likely to a get a get out delivery the more bowls he faces.He needs to maximise his usage of the ball he faces.

Agreed.

A strike rate now below 19 is very very slow even by his standards.

And it is a day one pitch still.

Man, Athlai just reminded me Ryder possibly isn't even Wellington's sixth bowler. Woodcock would be.

Adams, Mills, Tuffey, Bates, is a better attack. Oh wait, that's who will line up for Auckland in the Plunket Shield.

Southee, Boult, Arnel, Aldridge, Vettori is better as well (ND).

India would still rack up huge runs, but FMD we don't help ourselves.

Yeah this is a pretty disgusting NZ selection. How low are we going to have to sink before there is a big shakeup at NZC?

PEWS on test match sofa :) is Franklin injured?

Athlai

Not Terrible
No Franklin is so uninjured and in form it physically hurts me a little that he wasn't selected.

ND's batting lineup wouldn't be too much behind NZ as well, especially since we have Styris now, and Hamish Marshall is there for half the season.

CD full strength (so with Taylor) could bat better.

ND minus the Marshall's at full strength looking very good, though lacking Taylor/Ryder.

EDIT: Actually Watling, Jarshall, Williamson, Styris, Fynn, Vettori relies heavily on Kane, Styris and Vettori with the bat.

Watling = Watling
Parlane/Wilson not too much worse than McIntosh
Williamson = Williamson
Marshall not too much worse than McCullum
Styris not too much worse than Ryder
Vettori = Vettori
McGlashan=Hopkins
bowlers are better.

Dravid has faced about half the balls in this partnership hasn't he? Don't see the problem. Him walling up + Sehwag scoring freely all day at the other end will almost bat NZ out of the game.
