***Official*** Australian Domestic Season 2010/11

Maybe this should go in the Aus Domestic Thread but I would love to see people's thoughts on the best 4 bowlers in each format from both Vic and NSW assuming everyone is fit.

It's crazy for Victoria that you see the likes of Hastings, McKay, Nannes, Siddle, Harwood, JPattinson get call ups while someone like Damian Wright is the ultimate professional and he's been completely ignored.
For Victoria:

T20
Hastings
McKay
Harwood
Nannes

(if a bunsen, substitute McKay for McGain)

OD
Hastings
McKay
Siddle
Nannes

FC
Wright
McKay
Siddle
McGain

Can't see him in the Australian team, his weaknesses due to being unfit will be exposed harshly when competing against the top shelf, and if the going gets tough he always has an 'out' by going to play county cricket,
Did fine when he last played for Aus, was unlucky to be dropped.

Some interesting stats for Wright since crossing over from Tasmania. Excluding today's game his record reads for Victoria

61 Wickets @ 20.6 with an ER of 2.3. He has also averaged higher than his career average at Tasmania with the bat. His record reads 4 half-centuries and an average of 26.63.

Solid figures for a bloke who is nearing the end of a solid career. Never really looked international quality. Still a fantastic career and highly underrated within this country.

FC
Bollinger
Lee
O'Keefe
Clark?

Does anyone know what the story is with Burt ****ley? I assume he's hurt his back again or something. If fit and bowling at his best I think he should be ahead of Clark/Bracken/Starc/Coyte/Copeland/etc etc, at least in four day cricket.

I think he was unlucky not to play ODIs for Australia during the mid-00s. Had a few IMO less worthy one day bowlers leap frog him in the pecking order (eg Lewis, Dorey).

Cheers for that, it's tough leaving out Pattinson and Hastings in FC, I actually think Hastings has more potential than McKay, but can understand why you picked the way you did.

Yeah he's been very consistent and such a valuable player for the Vics, I remember last year you mentioned something similar. With his 4 first innings wickets, the bowling average is probably just under 20 now!

See there is no real way Lee could be ranked 2nd as he's retired from FC. It's funny with O'Keefe too because why the hell does Hauritz play for Australia. I've gone off Haury as a bowler so much that personally I would agree with you that O'Keefe is a better option.

It looks like the Australian selectors think the current pecking order is:
Bollinger
Hauritz
Hazlewood
Starc

But I really doubt that they are the 4 best bowlers.

I thought he had a good chance of making the 2003 world cup squad TBH.

Well he was always on the fringe of Australian selection. He played numerous games for Australia A etc. Lacked the big numbers to truly demand a spot.

Doherty looks pretty dangerous in this shield match hoping he performs if he gets an ODI.Looks to be getting it to dip in nicely from the angles on CA's site. Hoping for a big innings from Wade here or else vic's are stuffed!

Very good timing by Doherty. I hope he can turn his first class career record around; he is such an improved bowler from the docile trundler he was for the first 3-4 years of his career. Tasmania has persisted with Doherty for many years; it’s good to see him returning actual results.

I did talk Wade up last night too, be nice if he scores a brilliant 100 from here.

Doherty now has 5 after Siddle got cleaned bowled attempting a mighty slog to cow corner. He's bowled really well for the most part, a few deliveries have seen the batsman rock back onto the back foot but he's had the protection on the off side, so he hasn't punished much at all.

I've not watched every over of the innings, but I have seen a fair bit of Doherty and I've been pleasantly surprised with his bowling with the red ball.

There have been two changes to the West End Redbacks team to play the Retravision Warriors today at Adelaide Oval.

Callum Ferguson, who returned home from India yesterday, has been advised to rest following the long flight however will play in Friday’s Weet Bix Sheffield Shield match against the Warriors.

Fast bowler Gary Putland, who has snared eight wickets in the Redbacks first three matches of the Ryobi One Day Cup, will also miss today’s clash with a left shoulder muscle strain.

The pair will be replaced by Tim Ludeman and Kane Richardson.

Haha so they take Ferguson all the way India to serve drinks and he misses a Shield game and a one dayer because of it, and even when he's back in the country they still won't let him play straight away so he misses another one dayer. Awesome way to handle a player returning from a long injury trying to prove himself!

I doubt they knew two of the games were going to be washed out. Had he played in two of the games, wouldn't be considered a wasted tour. If he's come back jetlagged, you wouldn't play him, especially since the next Shield game is so close.

Anyone else watching the vics v tassie match? Wade just took a very nice catch down leg side! I really do think he will eventually find his way into the aussie set up somewhere.

You'd think so, bloody talented. I hope he makes some good scores in the shield matches to really push his case. Have a feeling he might have a better summer in the shorter forms though.
