Yeah. Hoping to see Maddinson get a few here. Haven't seen him play yet.

Poor old Phil Jaques. Has even lost his bat sponsorship by looks of it. Copped an injury at the worst possible time.
Jaques has been the unlucky man of Australian cricket for some time.

Along with Hodge and Love he's probably the most unfairly treated player in the last decade and a half of Australian cricket. Although you could probably add Damien "Scapegoat" Martyn to that list as well I suppose.

Don't see how his treatment has been unfair at all, tbh. He got injured and since coming back, he's been ordinary (average in the low 30's in FC cricket over the past two years) and others have overtaken him

Terrible timing with injuries and whatnot, though.

Big win for QLD over SA today, pleased for Lynn making his highest score 70 today. Christian got his maiden ton in OD Cricket too, but didn't bowl an over.
How it should be tbh. Definitely a batsman (one of the best in his team) who bowls a bit. Greg Blewett clone IMO.

Yeah shocker. Shows how fickle it can be. Got the shock of my life when I saw him without a sponsor. FFS, bloke was opening the batting for Australia not that long ago.

Crowd-wise, I am ready to declare the Ryobi Cup split innings format a failure. They've basically tampered with the fabric of the game, and possibly slightly compromised our WC preparation, for no net benefit (in terms of crowds) whatsoever.

I agree. Having gone to see the bushrangers play on Saturday i can say there's more parents going to the junior cricket matches then turn up for the ryobi comp. The new rules seem to confuse non cricket fans to no end aswell.

Good luck trying to get CA to see that. Took them till international rules were changed for them to roll back changes that they'd made earlier (three out between 15-30 overs, which was bloody horrible for spinners).

Absolutely brilliant ton from Wade today, off 80 balls, and brought it up in the final over with one of the biggest hits ive seen at the MCG, miles and miles over mid wicket, way back in the stand. This guy is ready made for international cricket, time and time again he not only digs the Vics out but blasts them into a good position. The sooner he is in the Aussie one day team the better. Paine for me is the next Test keeper, but Wade just has it NAILED in odi's. Could be a IPL star too.
IMO Wade will overtake Paine in all three forms of the game by the time Haddin retires. I don't mean that as a criticism of Paine either, his game has improved out of sight in recent years and I'm sure he'll keep getting better. I just think Wade has significantly more talent with the bat, he's a far more dynamic batsman, a naturally quick scorer and assuming he continues to develop and brings greater consistency to his game then I think he'll be impossible to ignore.

Wade has always looked destined to be something special, I remember him breaking one of Ricky Ponting's run-scoring records at a junior carnival when he was about 17.

yeah it's pretty terrible. Sounds dumb explaining it as well

Wade still has big question marks over his glovework for me, haven't managed to see too much of it over the past 18 months, but before that he certainly has been found out at times up to the stumps.

Tasmania were very shattered to lose him, but more for the batting, they were looking to play him as a specialist, as he's certainly no slouch in the field.

Drop a couple of catches off your bowling?

He sure has everyone noticing him at the moment. Just destined for an international career. Paine is a solid type, but Wade has the real hunger for big scores and also to play the counter-attacking sort of role most keepers are known for.

I really can't wait to see the name M. Cosgrove in an Australian lineup one of these days! He's still only 26, so he still could potential have a long career ahead of him.

Yeah I'm sick of all these twigs running around with the baggy green. Need a beefy bloke

Can't see him in the Australian team, his weaknesses due to being unfit will be exposed harshly when competing against the top shelf, and if the going gets tough he always has an 'out' by going to play county cricket,

Think that I've said it before, but he's an athletic guy with great hand-eye co-ordination. He doesn't have those "keeper's hands" that are an entirely different skill set.
