Think he got torn apart against the WA 2nd the other day.
Yeah he did get pumped but Bailey has also dominated games at that level with both ball and bat which I don't think Richardson, for all his potential, ever has. Bailey also went to South Africa and bowled quite well in patches, Richardson didn't. Just seems strange that SACA would invest so much in Bailey only to not play him the first LO game of the season. Be even stranger if it was on the back of one bad game in 2nds (even against WA :p).

Ah who gives a ****? I prefer seeing Richardson in the team ahead of Bailey anyway. Just wish it was for a role where he's more likely to show what he's got. Even Duval showed more form with the bat and he's a numpty. Just a bit excited about SA's first home-grown all-rounder with any talent in forever. :) Can see why it's just good experience to get him in the team, etc. though.

Home grown? He's from the Northern Territory...

He spent some time over in Melbourne, certainly not a natural batsman. Never heard him being referred to as an all-rounder before you did, TBH.

EDIT: Only one fifty in about 20 knocks in the last two seasons of Grade cricket in Adelaide, and never batted above 7.

Oh doi, was mixing him up with someone else for some reason.

By South Australian standards. :p I know what you mean but I've heard him referred to as such at SACA, probably a bit optimistic.

Makes his selection in the last game even more questionable surely?

Interesting (and probs good) that they've gone with Peter Nevill over Dan Smith.

Disappointed that Haddin isn't playing as I'll be at the game, but excited to see Lee nevertheless.

Is James Crosthwaite still playing in Sydney?

Nevill is the best gloveman of the keepers that I've seen in Victoria. Not sure if his batting will ever be up to State Cricket though, very robotic and just not quite good enough.

J Crossthwaite hasn't been playing for Sydney this year, not sure what he's up to. Maybe injured?

Adam Crosthwaite is playing for Manly though.

Jeez, Luke Williams at the bottom there - real blast from the past, had completely forgotten about him. Reminds me of blokes like Ben Cameron as well, whatever happened to him? Thought he looked pretty elegant everytime I saw him bat.

Dicky knee from what I remember.

As far as Luke Williams goes, some people at SACA have long memories about his defection to Tasmania and that was on top of being considered a bit temperamental. Played against him a couple of times, thought he was alright myself. Intense.

There will be no criticism of Nobes' technique here. ****ing gun. If young Paul has anything resembling Dad's technique, he should be thanking whatever God he prays to that he was bestowed upon with such radioactive levels of muscular awesome.

The man as a selector, on the other hand........

Yep he was muscular alright. For me his era was a bit of a golden age of old style shield cricketers, like Barsby, Steve Small, those types who dominated grade cricket but were full of characteristics and oddities in their cricket.

haha, yeah it seemed like there was a whole generation of cricketers who were grizzled, grumpy old men before they started. Was a simpler time, a mustachioed time.....
