btw...Bennett goes for 6 an over in List-A, goes for 6 an over in his ODI debut, and gets showered with praise. I predict another painfully over-praised career before the inevitable demise.

I'd rank the ODI sides as follows :

Australia
England
India
Sri Lanka = South Africa
Pakistan
New Zealand = Bangladesh
West Indies

EDIT : Actually I'd have NZ above Pakistan, so

Australia
England
India
SL = SA
NZ
Pakistan
Bangladesh
WI
 How can you originally have NZ=Bang and then put NZ over Pak without doing so with Bang

I think Pak have a better side than Bangladesh on paper. I actually think they have a better side on paper than NZ also, but it's the results that count.

Bangladesh beat NZ in one series and suddenly NZ are equal to Bangladesh? Madness.

Nice to see Williamson score some runs. I didn't see the game as I was at work, how quick was Bennett bowling?

More like AUS, SAF, SL / IND, ENG. PAK, NZ, WI and BAN

England did not have any recent performance against IND or SL in the sub continent. On these wickets English seamers will be far less effective and provide the ideal pace to hit though the line.

140-145 to begin with, he slowed up a touch during the innings however. Rather expected given the heat and all though.

England are 2nd, mate. They beat both Australia (home) and SA (home and away) recently. SA are strong on paper but since beating Australia home and away in '09 have surprisingly few good ODI results. Also flopped in the Champions Trophy in SA.

They certainly did that. But their Achilles heel has been sub continent and play against spin. They were not tested in that department. Only time they were tested (that was against Ajmal), they found them selves far from the comfort zone. No batsman up to now (bar Afridi and Akmal) has gone after Swann. That will certainly happen against IND and SL. And add a flat wicket to that and try bowling against Sehwag and Dilshan too. ENG certainly ahve men capable of delivering, but they'll be tested to the maximum in the SC.

I actually think that this has been very good WC prep for the Black Caps. A tough series that showed up a number of weaknesses in the team is much better prep than if the Black Caps had won the series easily against an under performing Bangladesh side.

NZ's performance in the second game played was woeful, but the other two games were close. NZ's overall performance has been sub par, but I don't think NZ has played as badly as some people think. They see 0-3 against Bangladesh and assume it's NZ that's to blame. From what I've seen, the series loss is more attributable to the excellent play by Bangladesh (especially Shakib), than it is to terrible play by NZ.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Bangladesh play in the WC. If Shakib maintains his incredible form and some of the other players can step up, they could knock over some big names. I'd love to see them make the semis.

Yup, always good to find your weaknesses early on. But i don't know if this is early enough for NZ with there bench strength pretty low and provided that they will be playing the WC in subcontinent, things don't look good for them, they are at the verge of a whitewash from one of the relatively weaker teams of subcontinent.

Tamim has made Swann his bunny in a few games afaik :)! And when Swann played in Bangladesh, he was pretty good.

Is Ryder playing in the next game? Can't find his status through google.

as far as the health of NZs cricket - it is all the "fault" of Styris for being injured and Guptil for losing his form. But if Williamson can come good and take Guptil's spot and Styris recover soon then we will be ok.

Really hoping that Ryder and Williamson play against India.

Also can someone make a post about Williamson't health when you hear.

I'm fairly sure Ryder would return for the final ODI, Cricinfo reported that he was only ruled out of the fourth match because of an upset stomach and the accompanying effects...
