This Australian slide is worse than WI slide

This is happening really really fast. They went from being Dominant to losing to SA, IND, ENG in no time. It took Richie Richardson one series loss to hand over the captaincy, not sure why Ponting is still there.

WI did not see such collapse until 2001, and there isn't anybody in AUS ranks right now who is even on par with former players.

Since 2008 AUS has not beaten a top ranked team, they were able to beat WI and Pakistan, and even draw a series against the Pakistan aswell.
I know for some no matter how much they lose, they are still the best. If they are so good why can't they win a series ?

You're talking about two series. Neither of which did Australia fail to be competitive in, and both of which were away from home.

I don't understand your point. Is this criticism aimed at those who think Australia are the best? I seriously don't know an Australian cricket fan (and I know a few) who doesn't believe that Australia are really struggling at the moment. I'll believe our slide is worse than the West Indies the day Australia select the equivalent of Ricardo Powell in the Test side.

Bloody hell we just played the #1 side at home, with a bowling attack who has barely played in these conditions, carrying two bats no one thinks deserves to be there, and our best two bats didn't show up, with a spinner who was horrific. Yet we still ran them almighty close in one test and were highly competitive for most of the other.

Powell isn't fit to tie McDonald's bootlaces. A misfit for the Australian team at the moment but a massively under-rated cricketer.

I think there's definitely a degree of frustration as a lot of us think that this isn't the strongest possible team lining up to play tests, and the age-old arguments that those underperforming are future prospects doesn't hold water. Also, the notion that we are "rebuilding" is a bit rich considering the average age of this side, as well.

It's like the first T20i world cup, where Australia's best t20 batsmen were retired and best bowlers either weren't playing at all or were playing for the wrong country.

This,the only thing he may have a point on is the fact they have gon from top to middle ranking so quickly which West Indies didn't mainly due to Ambrose and Walsh carrying the side for many years with no decent back up bowling.

Well the rankings thing for mine is as much if not more to do with the fact that quite a few teams have suddenly become quite good again all at once. The gap between 2nd and 5th is very very small.
