*Official* New Zealand in Bangladesh 2010

D/L might seem unfair at times especially if it goes against you but it is the best man made system to work in such situations.

Yeah, Zinzan's comment when the rain came shows NZ were well behind by that point anyway (at 80% of the adjusted target), and that's key when D/L comes into play.

Wow, just saw we lost. Though really not that surprising - I think it's a fair representation of where our New Zealand team is at the moment, that Bangladesh at home are a genuine threat to beat us in a series.

IMO we are more in the doldrums than ever and I for one am feeling a lot less optimistic about the coming season than I have for many years. The schedule for this year doesn't fill me with excitement either.

At least there's the Ashes to provide some interest!

The ODI team is still very good tbh. We lost Bond, but that's about it.

The killer has been Guptill's form loss and Styris's injury.

Watched most of the game in the uni bar. I'll restrain myself from unleashing too much drunken biased nonsense, but there was a stumping appeal off Vettori's bowling that looked pretty clearly out to me and was given not out by the third umpire. What did everyone else who saw it think?

Didn't see it.

I think this loss has more to do with Bangladesh improving than us being crap at ODIs. They're becoming a very good outfit these days. Mortaza, Razzak and Shakib are class bowlers and Tamim, Nafees, Mamuhdullah and Shakib are good batsmen.

25.4 Vettori to Junaid Siddique, no run, controversy here as Junaid is dragged out of his crease with his back foot on the line when the bails were taken off. However, the third umpire has chosen to give Junaid a lifeline
That's the one. I disagree that the foot was even on the line - there was daylight between the foot and the ground, for mine.

But he only scored another 10 runs after that, so it's hardly significant.

Full credit to Bangladesh, and particularly Shakib.

Even more bad news for Bangladesh!

That was pretty clearly out. Us Bangers fan were actually pretty appalled. And then I was also following the India-Australia match and well...this dumb decision seemed smaller than the massive 4 dumb decisions from that game! LOL!

Mashrafe Mortaza, Nazmul Hossain, Rubel Hossain and Shafiul Islam are all injured! Rubel was 90% fit for this match but was not risked. Nazmul got hurt today and is out of the next match which leaves the selectors with a few choices to recall Syed Rasel, Shahadat Hossain, Dollar Mahmud and a few other blokes.

However, the chief selector has said that most probably it will be a between Shahadat Hossain and Syed Rasel. The panel will talk with the coach Jamie Siddons on Wednesday morning and the final squad for the 2nd ODI will then be announced.

If not Shafiul, I at least hope Rubel is 100% match fit for the next match and sincerely hope Rasel is playing. If the pitches for the upcoming matches are going to be of such nature as today's than Rasel's slow cutters, dippers and skidders will be perfect for Bangladesh against New Zealand !

Has anyone here seen the tv show eastbound and down? Just saw a photo of Jessie Ryder on cricinfo and he reminds me of Kenny "F***ing" Powers, both in appearance and it seems attitudes from his drinking and partying issues....
Stick a mullet and a goatee on him and he'd be a dead ringer for Kenny '****in' Powers.

Poor Stewart. Looks to be the next up and comer to be shafted by late order duties in ODIs.

Shakib's been one of my favourite players for awhile. Great to see him winning that match for them and now i'm hoping they can win the series against the Kiwi's. I'm guessing with Mortaza out he'll be taking over the captaincy? Will his form drop again for the rest of the series?

That's a bit of a stretch Flem, considering he normally bats 5.

Sure, he's shown he can accelerate and tonk a few at the bum end if he's still in, but like Oram and Broom before him, he needs to face a few dozen deliveries first.
He doesn't just come in and smash it to all corners
