I myself used to call Symonds a monkey. It was because of ignorance, not racism.

Then again, coming up with bull**** excuses is pretty disgraceful

Guys, calling someone a 'monkey' or saying they look 'apeish' is a racist insult in certain countries. Can we please debate this sensibly without throwing insults around.

If you called me a monkey I'd punch you in the face. If you called me a dickhead I'd probably agree.

There are a whole lot of stories, sides and opinions to this story.

But one thing that, no matter who you listen to, seems to definitely be the case, is that the post-Warne and McGrath team seemed to not be the sort of team culture that Symonds liked. I reckon he just didn't fit in with the professionalism and "cricket is our job" culture that now exists within the Australian lineup.

Money-gate was just the catalyst for it all coming to light.
