*Official* Australia in India 2010

I wonder whether Australia need to think about replacing North, he's failed in his last 6 innings. Some of our batsmen need to look at their modes of dismissal when they could have really pushed on and batted India out of the game.. particularly in the entire ****ing match.
Fix'd.

If you're not good enough (North), you're not good enough.

If you can win, but make bad tactical moves, you're fair game.
Can prevent Laxman getting easy runs when there are 80 runs left to win tbh.

He captained poorly after Harbhajans wicket. Don't see how anyone can deny that.
Any captain did what Ponting did - you want to try and get the lesser batsman on strike and get as much of a go at him as possible. Crack through Ishant, and then you have 70 or so runs to throw it all at Ojha.

In the end, you have to say "Great job, Ishant", because he's given his bowlers every chance.

EDIT: Things can change as you get closer, but with that many runs to go then it's the right decision.

Also, can understand why he took the slip out, when the ball begins exploding and pitch is fairly slow in the first place. Think the quicks got only one ball caught at slip for the whole Test.

Yeah I feel it's a bat harsh to criticise ponting for that tactic. The bowlers regularly had 5 balls an over at him.

Perhaps (but I personally disagree), but surely anyone could've seen that with 25 runs to go that was a bad tactic.

Taking a step back though and looking at the perspective of just how new our side is...it was still a wonderful performance. S.Africa may have became strong, but then faltered and India are only going to get weaker once some of their champions retire...but our group is getting stronger and stronger. Beating India at home (an India which is ranked #1) would have been a big achievement.

I didn't get to watch most of the match, as waking up at five o clock in the morning is kinda beyond me, but I thought Hilf bowled well without much luck, I love watching him bowl and he was actually swinging it pretty late.

The renovations Australia should have made to their batting lineup last Summer, namely dropping Hussey and North, are now coming back to haunt us. North just keeps on getting his pants pulled down by all comers.

Yeah, he did. But just as he was looking in prime form to take a wicket, beating the bat late, Ponting pulled him off...

Was no surprise when he (finally) came back he took a wicket immediately (even if it was a dodgy call, it was a wonderful ball)

That's what probably made the loss so devastating. A win here would have been a huge boost for us. I must say, even though our bowling didn't completely work out for us in the end, I think we have some very good pace options. Hilfenhaus gets medal for most unlucky bowler today. Just need to plug our issues in the middle order (North)

On the positive side, our quicks are going good for this stage of the season.

Watson criminally underbowled however.

Yes, slower ball to the nervous, rooted to the ground, tailender was a good piece of bowling.

Ikki's post is why I don't feel all that shattered TBH. I feel the three quicks gave an absolutely exemplary effort and were more than a little unlucky at critical moments.

And really, considering how close it came (the edge that actually wasn't and the runout) you can't really say it was much more than rough luck which way the coin dropped.

Oh yeah, but for this side to win in India would have been the start of our climb back to the top
