They got way too carried away with trying to score quickly and get a lead by today.. Seemed to work for a while but with a batsmen injured and the last pair of recognised bats out there, wasn't really the best of choices.

Laxman got a good one, struggled with a bad back, hence came in late and could do little, but there's no way you can call Ishant a recognised batsman. He can't score runs. Nor can any of the others. Maybe a little annoyance to the bowlers, only to annoy their own fans a little later by getting out for next to nothing.

Don't know - I remember Harbhajan causing us plenty of pain with some lower order cameos... Zaheer as well.

They have been in very poor form lately, even by tailender standards. I said before the series that runs from the tail could be a crucial factor in this series and Australia have the advantage there. I've been impressed with Ishant's tenacity with the bat in recent times, though.

Hauritz' figures look slightly less dire with two cheap tail wickets.

I know his head will probably be called for at the end of the series, but I think he's worth keeping. He's done pretty well before now.

On any other day Zaheer and Harbhajan are more than useful, just not today, Ojha and Ishant not so much.

Pitch still looks really good so I reckon the Aussies will be able to set a chase but I think India would back themselves to save the match.

Haha caught my post before I read it and changed my mind.

Gotta say this is quite the test match, even if it does seem a little slow-paced from a result POV. All three days have ended where neither side can really claim a definite ascendancy.

Haurie accurate enough but just doesn't look like taking wickets at all. The pitch still seems to be holding up well, so hopefully our blokes can score well tomorrow, but I can't see us taking 10 wickets unless it really breaks up badly day five.

You can't go dumping bowlers for poor batting form - or indeed selecting bowlers who aren't good enough because they can bat.

It's pretty tense, but yes, slow, but the pitch isn't really helping. It remains to be seen how it wears and if it gets more difficult to bat on. Good effort by both teams bowlers really to "restrict" the totals to where they are

Well said, pick your 6 best batsmen 4 best bowlers and a keeper, if your batsmen don't make runs, don't blame the bowlers.

Yeah, totally agree. I was just pointing out that it's something that's in Australia's favour right now. And the Laxman injury, of course.

Let's be honest though - aside from that last Mitch spell and some of Zaheer's reverse-swing no one has looked like taking wickets.

Yeah hate that more than anything else. Count three today - Hussey's "through-the-legs" at 2nd slip (not a huge surprise since Hussey isn't really a slipper IMO), Johnson's misjudgement at mid-off and Watson's clanger. Paine's stumping was pretty rank as well.

Not as bad as some of our "efforts" in NZ but seriously uncool stuff.

Glad that I've played a big part in firing up Johnson then. Don't be surprised if Mitch was thinking about my xi over the last couple of days.
