Granted, but wouldn't it be more 'wishful' to hope Zaheer does a 'Hadlee' and peaks between the ages of 31 -37?

Zaheer turns 32 (in a couple of days) & Imran - the bowler- was at his very best between about 1980-86 (aged 27-33) IIRC.

It will be interesting how Our batsman have a go today...They can be aggressive (Well not as aggressive as Sehwag) Today is the day that will decide the fate of the test.....

Yup, phenomenal considering his footwork is minimal, instead relying almost purely on hand-eye & bat-speed. This seems to carry him through on 80% pitches he plays on (which is the same for most top batsmen ). The only pitches I can envisage him genuinely struggling is certain pitches in England & New Zealand i.e NZ conditions circa 02'.

tbf, Imran was in his peak between 28-34(1980-1986) but I agree that Hadlee is the more appropriate model here. Was an in-the-moment comment because I thought Imran started peaking at 29 and not 28. It'd certainly be a miracle if Zaheer does anything close to what these bowlers did in their 30s though.

In Zaheer's defence, In the four-and-a-half games he has played this year, He has taken 27 wickets @ 22.4. Really looking forward to seeing him bowl in the second Innings and the remaining 6 games this year.

How likely is it that he'll actually play the remaining six games this year?

To be fair any batsman in the world would struggle in those 2002 NZ conditions.

As for Zak yeah he has done really well this year (he bowled well last year as well). And with tours of South Africa, England and Australia over the next years I see him doing even better.

Very unlikely, I admit. Would be a handful for South Africa if Zaheer tours with his current form and Sree takes off from last time(and Praveen Kumar instead of Ishant ****ing Sharma), But that is a an extremely big 'if'. I really hope he skips the ODIs.

Stop making me cry though. :(

Zaheer has grown as a bowler remarkably his bowling plans are excellent now and knows how to work a batsman out however he is too injury prone to have a late career flourish like Hadlee or Walsh but then who knows.

If Zaheer play's Against SA this year... Smith will be his Bunny as usual...

Btw who do you replace Zaheer in ODI's may be Munaf who looked good in previous game....

Needs more favourable pitches too. Can't be waiting 80 overs for some reverse swing seam

Checked Cricinfo 15 minutes ago and was wondering for ages why play was starting an hour later today. Bloody daylight savings.

Haha yeah I did that too; took me a good 10 minutes to figure it out. Lucky my computer clock automatically changed or I would've forgotten all about DST.
