Must say that this thread has been awesome since the match started, which is a nice change from how Australia/India tour threads usually run on CricketWeb. I always enjoy the cricket so much more when I have a good tour thread to post in.
Lol. PEWS clearly not one for not tempting fate then.

Agreed tho, ftr.

Cheeky little sweep from Paine; beautifully done too. Looks a diff game when you play a few shots, eh?

50 up. Looks a classy player, tbh. Gorgeous cut he has.

IIRC has quite the cover drive too.

Thanks for showing that dropped catch off Zaheer again. Grr.

Dhoni better make a 200 to make up for his misses in this game.

We're just lucky Sir Alex got banned. Would've possibly ruined the thread imo.

Why the hell haven't India taken the new ball yet? I know they've only got one seamer, and he can bowl fairly effectively with the old ball, but still.....

Whatever it takes!!!
Paine looked impressive from the time I saw him in that test against Pak.. Not really sure why you would want to go back to Haddin. Definitely more hit or miss than Paine AFAIC. And now that you have Mitch, Hauritz and Hilf after him, you would rather take the guy who will definitely stay in for a while than the "might make you a quick 100 or get out 2nd ball" guy.. Though, tbf to Haddin, I do recognize he is a lot more than what I just said.

I actually hope they take the new ball. Will come off the bat even better

Paine is making it extremely difficult for Haddin to get his spot back. I read haddin was named in the nsw 2nd XI - does anyone know how he went?
There is no way Haddin won't come straight back into the team for the Ashes.

Anyway, why do the commentators keep insisting that Tim Paine is "usually a very aggressive batsman"? Because it's really not true at all. Do they just assume that all wicket keepers are aggressive or something?

Yeah, I think the new ball would help even the spinners at this point. A bit of zip and bounce and the bat-pad fielders could be in business.

If paine makes a big score here and goes well behind the stumps Haddin could well find himself out of the test side but its still unlikely

Yeah I tend to agree, but they do need to make something happen here. It's just meandering; they're not keeping a lid on the scoring and the batsmen aren't offering any chances.

Yeah India have no choice but to take it even though I think it will actually help us, especially once Sharma can bowl again.
