only if you put Pakistan infront of him.
Not too bad stats over all either...averages 28 in ODIs with 94 wickets..and 25 in 11 tests at 34. Test S/R is a bit high...but the guy has played only 11 tests so far and i think all of them in tough bowling conditions..

yeah tbf to Umer conditions were tough and Anderson was top on his game was always on the cards now I want to see how he responds to it if he makes adjustments to his game and does well then I see him going on or if he keeps making the same mistakes then put him in the same bin as others.

The Wheel is Forever
To be fair all the young Players with potential ,specially fast bowlers are sent to the NCA or the MRF pace academy where some of the facilities are best in the world,so good that even Foreign players come there for training..
That's irrelevant. You need to have that type of thing where the players actually play a long season. You can't do a stint here and there and have it do anything but correct minor tweaks at best.

Even at the domestic level the facilites at each state team have improved manifold.Take Mumbai as a example ,they have their own state of the art Training and physical development facility
There is no professional coaching development and things like that like there is in the UK. I'd like to see the list of physios and other employees and see how many of them were hired based on merit.

You mean the guy who averages what 51 in test cricket? All of his 5 matches have been against India and he took 5 of his 13 wickets in his debut test (on a helpful pitch for fast bowler too). The guy can barely bowl a spell of 6-7 overs without breaking down like 2-3 times. Sorry but Prasad is much much worse than most of the Indian quicks (as bad as some of them might be).
I saw most of those 5 matches vs IND as you rightfully highlighted on his debut test & also the 1st session of the 2009 Mohali test when SRI reduced India for 30 odd for 4 - he was very threatening.

Looks like a very capable bowler on helpul decks, but not so good on flat decks. Would accept he is probably on par with Sreesanth when he is bowling well - but certainly better than all the rest.

Well done Watto! Surely, next time the central contracts come out, he has to be ranked numero uno. He's our most valuable and best cricket by quite some margin I would say.

IMO Umar Akmal is a fabulously talented batsmen and he should be encouraged to play his natural game.

I'd far rather a guy like Akmal got out to Swann trying to belt him out the park than by trying to be "responsible" and padding up to a straight one.

So far he has shown rare signs of adjustments but..of course i am not suggesting he should be dropped right away or something...but surely needs to show some change in his temperament.

Wrong thread, but I like Asad Shafiq

The future of Pakistani batting doesn't look that bad, with Umar the aggressor and Asad the more composed stylish player, they'll last at Test cricket unless they start fixing again ofc.

It wasn't in Mohali it was in Ahemdabad. And the only reason he looked threatening is because the first 1 hour is helpful for the bowlers on that venue which SL took advantage off (although it was Welegedra that really moved it around not Prasad). I'm sorry but he is easily a notch or 2 below Sreesanth and despite Ishant having a horrible time since late last year he is still better than Prasad. Prasad tiers soooooo easily it's ridiculous. The guy will bowl like 4 overs of 135-143ish km with decent outswing and then he gets tired and goes out of the attack for like the next 40 overs. Sorry but he has some serious problems in terms of endurance. Which is why I'm a little surprised as to why he isn't used in the shorter formats rather than test matches. Paired with Malinga in ODI's he could do decent damage.

Was delighted when North scored runs in the practice game. Guaranteed his selection :D

Zaheer is a gun but Dhoni dropping Paine is going to cost us huge I reckon. 6-for and we'd be well in charge :(

If Prasad's better than Sreesanth, I'm not here.
Yeah, pretty ridiculous how a bowler who averages above fifty and had one good spell of bowling where he picked up a couple is better than a proven test bowler who won India her first test in SA and was looking like nabbing another win there. Also, His 5-fer in the game Sehwag scored 293 on a ridiculously fat pitch against a stellar batting line-up was for the gods.

I mean, I'm in no way trying to suggest that Sreesanth isn't all the things people criticise him for. He seems to be a bit mentally unstable, his cricket is very erratic and his attitude to practice seems to be pretty poor as well. However, I think this cloud's people's judgement of his bowling a little - despite all the above, he does manage to take cheap wickets regularly enough to be a very useful bowler. He's neither consistent nor reliable but he does get the job done often enough to be a Test bowler. He's taken 58 wickets in 17 Tests against top-eight Test teams at an average of less than 32; that puts him in a different league to the Sharmas and Prassads of the world, regarldess of whether his weaknesses seem more obvious and regardless of whether he reminds you of another bowler when he bowls (lol).

Regarding his inconistency, too, these are his series averages:

Code:
England in India 9	25.66
India in West Indies 10	33.50
India in South Afria	18	21.94
India in England	9	37.55
South Africa in India	4	68.50
Sri Lanka in India	8	30.00
He's had one shocker of a series and one pretty poor one - the rest of them have actually very pretty consistent, and his last series contained his best innings of bowling to date (which I incidently think was one of the best innings of bowling of the decade if you look at the context - if it was anyone other than Sree people would speak a lot more highly of it). He may seem inconsistent in his accuracy and his plans but he's consistent enough in his contribution from series to series.

World beater he isn't - yet - but he's a got a lot more to him than Sharma, Mithun, Prassad and various other bowlers that he's been compared to in this thread and despite what people say he actually does get results.

Another opportunity goes abegging. Dhoni should be standing closer given the bounce of this wicket. Zaheer really deserves atleast two more wickets already.

Why are they allowed to change the ball during the 97th over? Surely they can take the new ball if the old ball is out of shape?
