*Official* Australia in India 2010

Well its a decent day for both the teams,If Australia loses this match Watson is the person to blame IMO
Joking?

Pretty bad way to end the day for Australia. It could of been worse though if Watson got out right at the end of the days play.

Ojha was brilliant today, extremely unlucky to not pick up a wicket. If I'm not wrong, someone on this forum was criticizing the Indian selectors for picking Ojha over Mishra and Chawla. He proved them wrong today imo

So North is due for a score at Melbourne then. Sydney at the latest.

Jesus that dude makes it hard to like him, it really does. When I checked on my phone at work that he didn't even last an over, I just silently nodded to myself. Everything or nothing with him, amazingly frustrating when he gives everything in a goddamn practice match.

Ehhhhrgh, he can still get another 5-fer or something similar to do the absolute bare minimum to justify his place in the side to the selection panel. Smith 4 Brisbane! idfc, he has to be a better "long term" prospect than North, honestly.

So glad Zaheer plays for us. Was painful watching Ishant self-destruct today. Ojha choked em good too.

Ponting and Watson were superb. Clarke might've scored plenty if he was more patient.

Funny way of showing it. ;)

North has three test innings left, tops.
I think he should have 1 as he has now scored 3 ducks in his last 5 Innings.

That would make it a nice even 30 Innings broken down as follows:

Inn 1-10: 117, 5, 38, 0, 125*, 0, 6, 12, 96, 110 (509 runs @ 56.56)
Inn 11-20: 8, 10, 79, 16, 2, 68, 1, 8, 10, 2 (204 runs @ 20.40)
Inn 21-29: 21, 112*, 9, 90, 0, 20, 16, 0, 0, ? (so far 268 runs @ 33.50)

And the trend of post McWarne era batting collapses continues...

Although it may turn out to be a great innings from Watson, he was poor after Ponting got out. Went into a ridiculous shell & allowed the spinners to bowl to him too much, he definately should have been able to find more scoring area's. I guess such an innings sort of proves why long-term he may stay opening in tests.

Tipping this to be a great summer for Ponting with the blade. Looked like the Ponting of his peak today. India & ENG bowlers beware...

North obviously back under pressure again, although he got a good ball. A second innings failure & he has to be dropped for good.

The ball is reversing has predicted, so the AUS bowlers will know what they have to do.

Why do India keeping playing @ the venues with so much empty seats these days?. I thought they learned their lesson from the Kolkotta tests vs SA earlier this year, how important playing at the tradition test venues with strong intimidatory crowd support helps them.

I reckon also win or lose this test. IND should strongly consider playing 3 spinners @ Bangalore.

It wasn't even a collapse, it just looked like one because we scored so bloody slow. On a normal day Hussey would've got 35-40 off what, 80 balls?

Why would you want 3 spinners when you've already got Sehwag as a decent 3rd option?

Also Zaheer Khan took 3 of the 4 wickets to fall to bowlers. A good seamer will add much more even if all they do is pick up a couple of wickets with the new ball somewhere.

Was watching the game at college in the common room and there was a huge cheer when North got his duck... until we realised we were 5/222. Seriously though, get him out of the team, now. Brad Hodge must be absolutely spewing.

Also Watto, WAG.

Playing 3 spinners is waste as one is underbowled,Australians batted poorly against ojha and harbhajan after ponting got out ,India will find it hard to save the test believe me we struggle more in pitches with low bounce and movement than pitches which had medium to high bounce .

Confused as to what the departure of McGrath and Warne has to do with middle order collapses anyway.

Sehwag effectiveness comes from the fact that he isn't bowled alot - a good partnership breaker. If he has to perform the role of front-line spinner, he wont be as effective.

Picking a third spinner (Ashwin or Mishra) on true dustbowl like India did vs AUS @ Mumbai 04, ENG @ Mohai 06, SA @ Kanpur 04, Chennai 01 (which they should try to prepare @ Bangalore). Would make India bowling attack even more dangerous & would be utilizing their home advantage to the full extent. Its useless picking another quick other than Zaheer ATM - since the others a crap.
