Good Lord, what a couple of gorgeous shots. The one through backward point the highlight; on the up, split the field. Wow.

Really good 50 by Ponting, he's gonna get a century here, no doubt in my mind. Sharma will still be kicking himself now.
TBF, he's long overdue a little luck in India. Would've been a rank way to get out. Still, it happens.

India's attack doesn't look that good once more, not that Australia will care one jot, good toss to win and they are putting themselves in a strong position.Won't see much of the first 3 days,Ryder Cup is much more important.

Ravi(?) suggesting India should try and bounce Ponting out.

He by no means plays the pull shot like he used to, but it kinda sounds suicidal on this wicket.

I think he's trying to justify having the two fielders there and not bowl the short ball, which I agree with.

Ooh, out of the blue, we may have a wicket. Bah, in. :(

LOL. Terribly undercooked, rusty, low intensity, missed catches etc. Typical India in the first Test of a series.

Watch as all that is used by some posters here to discount Ponting's inevitable triple ton in future debates.

EDIT: Actually no it'll be the no-ball catch behind.

Not from me. Credit where it's due and all that.

Ponting's going to get out soon anyway.

Yeah wasn't saying you would.

And, that said, the knock would need to be put into context. India haven't made it that hard for him. The conditions have been against them but no matter the conditions, no-balls are morale suckers and a gun like Ponting is going to put crucify long-hops and half-volleys.
