I'm no fan of Modi, but I really don't have a problem with the scheduling....

The CL was brought forward to make sure it didn't clash with the Australia-India Test series, and it so happened to clash with the last week of the county season. This was discussed between the ECB and the CL between Feb and April of this year, and David Collier said that county cricket fixtures were 'sacrosanct'. So, there was no room for compromise, it seems.

Contrast this situation with a poorer, weaker organisation such as the WICB. The CL said to the WICB that deciding their 20/20 winners in July was too late for the CL, and could they please bring the tournament forward in future? The WICB agreed, and the next domestic 20/20 tournament will be in January.

Now, would the ECB pay any attention to such a request like that from the CL? Their current winners are decided in August, and their fixtures are 'sacrosanct'. IMHO, if the counties want to take part in the CL, then the ECB needs to be flexible when they go to the negotiating table....
They've already pulled their season back a week to allow it to fit in, then the CL was rescheduled. Unless they started the season in March I'm not sure how much earlier they could've made it?

Tells you something about the county cricket season, doesn't it, when it starts in April and finishes in September? I mean, who in their right mind would choose to be wrapped in an overcoat, shivering in uncovered stands, watching county cricket being played in April and September? Have you stepped outside the door today? It's bloody cold right now, and this is the week when the final round is being played - this is cricket, not football!
Hell, given how cold it is outside, the two matches involving Somerset and Hants could've been postponed to the end of September. It probably wouldn't be much different to playing now....

Who's bright idea was it to play that ****ing Chennai Super Kings theme song after every boundary? Hadn't bothered with the competition until tonight, and the first set of highlights I see are ruined by the most irritating music ever played at a sport event, would rather listen to 90 minutes of the vuvuzela than that. Games featuring IPL teams really are better off watched on mute. The actual cricket was good though, Raina's innings was awesome. Hits the ball a long old way does Suresh, really gave Mendis a pasting in his last over.

It's a shame that nil wicket keeper Western dropped Finch on 8 CD probably woulda won otherwise. Absolute sitter. Shoulda kept Griggs and batted him at 11. The wicket from the no-ball as well as a few drops really cost CD there.

Weston hasn't kept wicket in years to my knowledge. Even weirder since Sinclair is normally our in game backup and we have another specialist keeper in the squad.

Hayden should be replaced by Hussey imo. Get Anirudha and Vijay to open and let Hussey play in the middle order or as a finisher.

Also a catch dropped (by Sachin who led the fielding effort by example :() and four needless byes conceded off Malinga's bowling.
Apparently the great man was disappointed enough to come out for some fielding practice (with special emphasis on high catches) on his own yesterday.

Standard of cricket has been for the most part appalling, the Mumbai game from a few days back was laughable. Can't expect much from the Kiwi side, their best players are missing but the Sri Lankan side have got international class cricketers and are a complete shower. Surfaces are still early season as well, so it isn't like the conditions are too alien for them either and the less said about Guyana the better.

Mumbai need to fix their filler bowling- it is ridiculously poor. While the likes of Sathish, Duminy and Murtaza are no good anyway, the poor performance of Bravo, Harbhajan and Pollard- with Bhajji's much-hyped asset, economy, deserting him- is a cause for serious concern. None of them have taken a wicket. While a lot has been said of their fielding, the ones who's been shoddy are otherwise good fielders, but none of the filler bowlers are any good.

For the forthcoming game, they can afford to play Sathish as a specialist fielder. They can drop Duminy- he's not much of a T20 batsman, with other players like him racing ahead in strike rates despite hanging around for enough time- and he's no bowler at all. Abhishek Nayar can play as a batsman, with his strike rate, and can come useful in the final overs- in place of Ali Murtaza.

  • Dhawan
  • Tendulkar
  • Pollard
  • Rayudu
  • Tiwary
  • Bravo
  • Nayar
  • Harbhajan
  • Sathish
  • Zaheer
  • Malinga
BOWLING: Zaheer, Malinga, Bravo, Pollard, Harbhajan get four overs each.
