*Official* - Road to India in South Africa - 2010-11

The 2-0 in 2005/06 was only caused because of aggressive captaincy to try to achieve a drawn series, when the game was likely to peeter out into a draw, and SA had the advantage throughout.

India performed super admirably against Australia in 03/04, but SA have never got to play as weak an attack as that.

One of the worst intentional misquotes ever.

And if this 'Joni' thing catches on there's gonna be hell to play. Bloody four or six!

Bloody GI Hoe
Lol, sorry. For some reason that's what my iphone auto-corrects jono to.

That's odd. I've never met a sports fan who prefers several near-misses to two thrashings and a glorious victory before.
We got glorious victories at home instead...

Also the 1-1 draw in 2003-04 was good enough for us to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

Well yeah. But what's home form got to do with anything? No one's arguing that South Africa have been better against Australia overall...

Well as I pointed out, if you are winning series at home, drawing them away is not a bad result...

Yeah but winning them away is still better!
We're going around in circles here. I think where we differ is that you look at each series in isolation while I don't believe in doing that. There wouldn't be much difference between England winning and drawing the next Ashes series in my opinion, and probably most English fans as well.

Yes, but that wasn't the point. Clearly drawing is better than losing.

The point was there wouldn't be much difference in a draw or a win. I won't speak for the English fans on CW, but winning is a much better feeling than drawing.

I would be surprised if there's any English fans who would be as happy with a draw as a win. Happy with a draw, perhaps, but a win would be much better.

Of course, we're pretty much certain to win 5-0. I'm not sure why we're even discussing the draw.

Winning is obviously >> drawing, that's obvious, I'm just saying draws take on a much better complexion if you are winning at home...
