Broad cops up a bit of trouble.

Did he actually cause that injury?
Which is a very good question. The piece I read said that the Broad incident 'could' have aggravated an existing injury. So (1) the initial injury was already there and (2) it wasn't even definite that Broad's action aggravated it.

Still a dumb thing to do though.

Can't have been a trivial thing if he's out for the rest of the season tbh...

Still haven't seen footage of Broad hurling the ball at the batsman, but sounds pretty unedifying.

What really gets my goat is his continued "wicket-taking" celebrations without turning to ask the umpire. God, it annoys me. You've been told, repeatedly, to stop, so stop. I don't have precisely zero patience with the "he's white / English / the son of a match referee" conspiracy theorists, but it's really time someone handed him a fine for that.
Well put Sir, and a good point. The last time he did it against Pak wasn't even a nick and when Strauss decided not to review it...Broad looked extremely foolish....

Banned
I must commend Stuart Broad on a brilliant piece of thinking....

He identified Haider as Pakistan's best batsman in the last Test, threw the ball at him, and fractured the Pakistan keeper's finger, ruling him out of the rest of the series. In return, Broad 'escapes' with a fine, and he will be playing at the Oval today, while Haider will not.

So, Pakistan enter this match weakened, thanks to Broad's antics, while England remained unaffected....
:)
Seriously though, Broad is a nasty piece of work, and the sooner he gets banned, the better it will be for world cricket. Like Suleimann Benn, he needs an attitude adjustment.

Personally, I feel the current match referee system and the code of conduct system are not working. I would like to see a card system introduced from football into cricket. What Broad did would, IMHO, have merited a red card, and a subsequent three-match ban.

Please post your Asif hate here people, in the interest of consistency. :)

Also, did you know, Stuart Broad has never failed a drugs test, not once, never, ever.

Tell me, who is the bigger disgrace to cricket?

Not been involved in fisticuffs with team-mates either has he?

Asif should be punished as well. I'm all for a few verbals occasionally but **** like this has no place in cricket.

Different situation wasn't it? From the radio they made out Prior was down the wicket so shying at the stumps was fair game?

You keep mentioning this. Yes he's a dick for doing it, but it doesn't affect anyone.

His on field antics though are a disgrace, and his illegal performance enhancing drug taking.
Do you think he'd have gotten off so lightly if he wasn't a famous cricketer?

Meh, if taking drugs into another country harms nobody then neither does not appealing a wicket...

Have not seen Asif's incident but if it is similar to Broads then he should be banned too as Broad should have too.

He’s still a **** for doing it and deserves the wrath of everyone, but he didn’t get off easy. He’s been banned for life from Dubai and won’t be able to participate in any matches that Pakistan play there. Considering that Pakistan are without a home for the foreseeable future, that is bound to be a long-term problem for both Asif and Pakistan. Also, the Middle East has the strictest drug laws in the world. In most countries, being that this was his first offense (does the “first offense” argument ring a bell for Broad supporters?), he would’ve gotten off much more lightly than what he got in Dubai.

The drugs were for himself. Hashish (the drug he was caught with) is a recreational drug, the closest comparison being marijuana. He wasn't harming anyone else.
