Broad cops up a bit of trouble.

Just a fifty percent match fee fine? Could be employed as a tactic to get rid of in form batsmen. I would.

I'm a bit confused - are they actually saying that the injury occurred when Broad threw the ball at him? It said that it might have been worsed when it hit him, but broken fingers aren't exactly uncommon for keepers. (Not defending Broad at all, just a bit confused by some unclear, imo, reporting).

The report says he only felt pain in it after the throw. At least that's how I read it.

Bit confusing. If this really was caused by Broad's throw, I think Pakistan should have been making it very clear at the time to the match referee. Wouldn't the charge have been different then against Broad?

I can't see a video of it now on YouTube, and I don't remember how hard the throw was and how it was directed.

Perhaps they'll choose to air the issue in the civil courts? - there'd be an interesting causation issue, but with all these headline chasing no win no fee lawyers around it looks like a runner to me

Even Broad's Mum is probably having a hard time liking him at this point.

So let's get this straight, the action Broad took a week ago is now suggested to have possibly cause or aggravated Haider's injury so now that makes him more of a ****? Explain please. What he did hasn't changed in light of this speculative report!

No but consequences affect the way we judge peoples actions - careless driving an obvious example

Curious the suggestion has taken a week to surface though

Can definitely see him take the glove off and have a look at his finger in the video. Meh, either way he's a **** and it definitely deserved more than 50% of his match fee, especially given the lack of any real apology.

Yeah, have to agree. Can't believe a report like that has emanated from a massive news site like Cricinfo with absolutely no Pakistani source claiming that Broad's throw aggravated the injury. And if Pakistan seriously want to make that claim, let's see an allegation.

One of the worst I've seen, tbh.

If you punch someone on the street, and they have a black eye, your consequences are less than if you punch them, they fall and hit their head and suffer brain damage.

Now obviously that's on a totally different scale, but the analogy is the consequences of your actions worsen or lessen the offence.

Why can't you just admit Broad consistently does stupid ****?

I don't get why there's this culture of defending him. Defend his cricketing ability, sure. But it's blatant that he acts like a dick when on the field, yet the minute someone (rightfully) has a got at him for dickhead behaviour, it's either "nothing to see here" or "no big deal, everyone does it".

Well it is a big deal if you do it consistently. It's why Sreesanth, Symonds, Harbhajan etc. are known as dickheads too.

I didn't defend what he did, not once.

But what he did hasn't changed now that Haider has an injury that MIGHT have been caused by Broad. Give me a break.

Sure, I won't dispute the 'might' aspect of your argument.

I strongly dispute your point that the consequences don't change the severity of the offence. Life proves that.

Look, I know what you are getting at. In real life it can be the difference between a section 18 offence and murder (in this country anyway, where you don't have to intend to kill for it to be murder). But to decide he's more of a **** now than he was last week is just stupid. His act was still the same.

But if his reckless action turns out to have forced a good, young, spirited, likeable cricketer to miss games through injury (thereby earning his team an undeserved advantage) you can't expect people to act perfectly rationally. The fact that he is a repeat offender makes it worse.

We could make Sreesanth use it as a tactic to get rid of an in-form Batsman tbh, We pay our cricketers too much anyway.
