I assume he got that black eye on the field, not from fooling around with a team-mate's girlfriend ...

Good to see the walking wounded joining the celebratory Hants group btw. Didn't spot KP though. Perhaps he lost interest when he learned there'd be no open top bus.

KP's been fired from Hampshire, they said they didn't need him. Looks like Cork got the last laugh there.

Has Pietersen ever left a team on good terms? Divorces from Natal, Cannock, Notts and Hants have all be somewhat less than amicable, tbh.

Factor in a flounce from Warwicks when they suggested he play more than just the one game for the seconds so they could have a proper look at him before offering him a contract and it looks like more than coincidence to me.

Just got back from work, real shame to have missed this but obviously delighted, had regular updates from someone at the ground so just as tense if I had been watching. Sounds like we ****ed it up big time at the end but got away with it.

After the endless league format where we were so inconsistent we have put together 4 wins in a row to win it.

Love Corky so much, very much doubt we would have won it if he had not taken over.

If we can stay up in the county championship then it makes it a pretty damn good season again after a horrible start.

Oh and I love Sean Ervine.

Soooooo cool watching Cork. Makes me think of when I was a kid playing in the back garden with my brother and him doing those massive X-shaped appeals.

Awesome last over. Amazing he's able to pin Pollard that way at his age. Hope Pollard is okay.
Out of interest, what type of speed was he clocking as an old man yesterday? In his prime and youth, I always thought he was too slow for the top level. I also suspect that speed guns seem to flatter bowlers. So Im kind of interested what an old medium pacer gets registered at. Did he hit 80 mph yesterday?

Yeah, he was bowling at 82/83 mph pretty consistently at both games. At least according to the speed gun.

Very pleased that Hampshire won, especially for the young players who have done so well for them through the tournament. Even if they did do their best to screw it up at the end.

He looked surprisingly sharp in the CC game I saw - his speed didn't suffer in comparison with the others Hampshire seamers and he certainly slipped himself with the delivery that got Glenn Chapple (the one after he'd bowled him with a no ball)

Durham not having it all their own way with Shahzad doing a job on their middle order. Currently 61/5

Would love to see Hales makes a score in Nott's second innings, doesn't seem to be having the greatest of years.

Durham been pretty much shafted by losing the toss. It's cold and grey. Ideal bowling conditions for a team of plodders like Yorkshi*e.

Difference is Yorkshi*e's seam attack is a bunch of plodders, regardless of injuries and call-ups. Shahzad is the only exception.

Seems the minor county would be really struggling once again if it hadn't been for their ex-Sussex Aussie import. Good work by diva, he's done well.

Damn Joss Buttler is a ****** gun

Or did you mean to say, "I 'ate you, Buttler!"

(meaningless reference for anyone under 45, I suppose)

In the CC, pleased to see a big score for Porterfield, who at least justified giving the Ireland game a miss (and they won without him, anyway). Bit shocked to see Gloucs bowled out though. Would like to have seen Surrey finish Worcs off a bit more cheaply after having them 106-5 but I suppose in any 4-day game you're happy to bowl the opposition out on the first day. Interesting day, tstl, at Chester-le-Street. Huge burden on McGrath there as you'd think a deficit of 50 or more could be fatal for Yorkshire.

Oh and the TV game looks like it could be a good 'un.

Have you seen much of Tremlett this year? There's a piece on cricinfo touting him for a place in the Ashes squad.

Seen him a few times, and been pretty impressed, but as a Surrey fan I always worry a bit about his workload, esp in Nel's absence. You always feel the next injury can't be too far away.

What a good decision that was by Mark Benson btw (does he really need the sunglasses though?) Looked for all the world as if Brown had been caught at slip first ball. But the way Tres was smiling suggests he knew all along he hadn't hit it.
