What's happened to Khurram Manzoor? He top scored for Pakistan with a patient 77 in the last innings in Australia!
The same issue my friend....Imran Farhat is too strong in PCB...and Salman Butt is the captain...i don't think Khurram Manzoor is a 1 down prospect...

Personally just hope that Yousuf's arrival doesn't cause any more problems in the team.....most of all i hope our bowling trio doesn't come in the loop of these nasty infights...that is the only bright thing left in our team and can't see it being ruined....

I suppose it must be possible that 3 and 4 could be changed - Yousuf and Yasir Hamid in for Azhar Ali and Umar Amin? Has Hamid even batted on the tour yet?

5 tests isn't enough to judge him in England. The guy is a legspinner, and will always go for runs. Usually he takes wickets as well, it just happens that he had a really poor match. For someone of his experience thats not enough reason to drop him. He's still a better test spinner than ajmal.

The only justification is if they replaced him with a seamer/allrounder, and use Malik instead.

England will have no trouble playing Ajmal in a test. He's not dissimilar to many county offspinners. At least a leggie offers something.
Ajmal is different to nearly every spinner in county cricket - bowling with a scrambled seam, with a doosra, front-on action.

My thing with Ajmal is that I'm not sure that his stock ball is potent enough. He is tough to face when first in, but once you've seen his variations then guys seem to get pretty settled against him - at least that is how it appeared in Australia.

That's a shame. It's just all a bit odd though, that he would bat at 3 in Australia, make a fighting 77 where he faced over 200 balls and now he is nowhere to be seen.

Having someone in the top order prepared to bat for long periods sounds like the exact player Pakistan are looking for.

Tell me about it Sir...

This is the sorry tale of Pakistan Cricket....When Imran says in his interview that he left the best team that Pakistan could ever have had but was disappointed to see that it never reached its true potential, this is exactly what he means as well..

Check this...

Our President (Asif Ali Zardari) assigns the chairman of PCB. the president belongs to the Pakistan People's Party...Ijaz Butt just happens to be the brother in law of a very strong person in PPP, Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar...he is the mayor of the city of Gujarat.

Imagine if the blunders that Ijaz Butt has made were made by an Australian official, an English or SA or whatever....would have been sacked at once even if it required calling in the military..why? Principals are bigger then personalities...

When 9 out of 10 Pakistani cricket fans, which is probably 70 percent of the population hate Ijaz Butt with a passion then how is he still allowed to be in that position...? Moreover, the ministry of sports who tried its best to remove him failed as well..later it was discovered that the person leading that parliamentary committee had a fake university degree.....so what you have is essentially a goon enforcing law on another goon....

This is only perhaps 1% of the entire story....

Back to the point about Cricket...like many Pakistani posters have stated earlier...our cricket is a direct reflection of our government and politics...

I don't think you will find a more heart broken cricket fan then a Pakistani one...

I think the Aussies read him fairly well..plus i don't think the pitches were that helpful for his style of bowling....

Personally feel he may be more successful then Kaneria...to me it all depends how attacking cricket do the English batsmen play...if they for shots like they did against Kaneria.....then Ajmal is more likely to get breakthroughs..imo...if they are more defensive then it will be tough for him to get wickets as he has a hard time penetrating a solid defense i.e Collingwood or KP.......

I think you should always search a bit before pretending to be a Pakistani.Ahmed Mukhtar is Defence Minister of Pakistan & not mayor of Gujrat. And secondly, the name of the city is Gujrat, not Gujarat(The Indian Proince).

...chucks with impunity.

Nah, seriously, it's a somewhat jerky action, isn't it?
Personally thought it was a very unusual action, with the dramatic pause halfway through it, but in no way an illegal one. If the ICC haven't found that there's anything to sanction after the length of time he's been around, it's rather an academic concern in terms of this series.

Pretending to be a Pakistani????

Anyways,

Yes he is the current defense minister...i got his title wrong..but he won the election from Gujrat by defeating the other Chaudhry Brothers......

Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar (Urdu: چوہدری احمد مختار )(born 1946 in Lahore) is the current Defence Minister of Pakistan in the PM Yousaf Raza Gillani-led cabinet.[1] He is a central leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party from Gujrat District. He defeated Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain from Gujrat NA-105 in 1993 & 2008, the leader of PML-Q party, who was allied with President Pervez Musharraf, in Pakistan's 2008 elections.

And try to take it ez there no need to start attacking ones nationality...

I feel like I'm approaching the shouting at clouds period of my senescence on this subject, but his action looks awful at the best of times and his doosra is a clear throw for me. Just scraped under the tolerance limit when he was reported, didn't he? Not match conditions, etc.

One hopes, apres Murali, control of the asylum might yet be wrested back from the emotionally interesting.

Mate I feel the same. Just that Imran is too honest, those people don't go far in Pakistan, in politics he doesn't gain power becasue unlike other dufuses he actually wants to change Pakistan... Like Cricket, and another thing is that if you are rich, you normally dominate over everyone else, doesn't matter if you are rubbish or good sadly, leaving Pakistan's true potential much more if they were allowed to prove it, and also they can't even play in their own country. How the hell are they gonna improve, and with smartasses like Ijaz Butt it's not gonna get better, but luckily now even he is realising he is gonna get fired soon, one win in 8 matches is/was not Pakistan standard, and now MoYo comes in and Younis to sort some things out in their lineup- but they are 34-38 so how are they gonna be influential, we need talent.
Talent comes with a good domestic setup, people not going to ICL for fun (yes MoYo you...) and PCB doing something right for a change, so let's see how things pan out because things can only get better from here surely.
