Btw, didn't Yousuf join some Religious group for life or a long period when he retired?
LOL religious group for life? These guys just go around doing tabligh and preaching islam to people. They dont let any group have rights over them for life.

Bit disappointed that Kaneria's been ditched and allowed to return to Essex, as I understood that Bryce McGain was going to be his replacement. Recall of a 36-year-old who's announced his retirement (again) does look a bit of a panic measure, but par for the course for Pakistan.
McGain did play the last Essex game - took a very expensive 5fer.

Am I the only one who thinks that Younis deserved this chance more than Yousuf?

I mean I understand Yousuf averages over 50 and he has been one of the greats in Pakistan cricket.. but last time Yousuf played any kind of competative cricket was back in Feb.. Younis in the other hand has played county cricket recently.. he has also showed some signs of getting back to his old form.. most importantly he is only 32.. that means he can play at least another 4 to 5 years for Pakistan..

if they are building a team for the future.. How does Yousuf fit in there.. he has retired... why not keep him retired.. i thought younis in place of Umar amin could be the best change in the side..

but again.. PCB is soo consistant in hurt pakistan cricket fans and making the same mistakes again and again..
Both Younis and Yousuf are needed now in the team. But yes I agree that Younis deserves a chance more but not for the reasons you mention though.

Younis Khan's issue with the PCB is the silliest of all. His lawyer said something that the PCB chief Ijaz Butt thought was insulting to the board. Thats it. That is the reason for a 32 year old leading batsman of the country with an average of 50 to be not picked.
Even now he wasnt picked. Ijaz Butt wants Younis Khan to call him up and say sorry.

This is how terrible the administration is in Pakistan. Even a defeat of 354 runs is not enough to break these egos.

wow...the batsman who has been playing county level cricket in England is not recalled and Yousuf who only played club level cricket is sent in....i dont expect much from him either....these are tough conditions to play in...and Yousuf has no recent match practice....

What a bowling performance from James Anderson...simply super bowling....

Can Statsguru remove specific Tests from players' stats? Could prove handy in future debates on Anderson....

haha, top post.

Quick calculation suggests Murali's economy rate in innings' where he took zero wickets was, on average, a full 15% worse than Warne's. The decisive factor at last!

Haha yeah it was a reply to a Richard post that had basically said that if you took out all the games in which MacGill performed well, he consistently performed poorly.

For the Pakistani posters here, what has happened for the new reserve keeper to leap frog Sarfaraz Ahmed? Is it because he looked substandard with the bat in the tour of Australia?

You mean Zulkarnain Hayder?

Well could be anything...this guy may have better contacts in PCB....or could be that he is actually a potentially better keeper then Sarfraz...but i personally think Sarfraz is a better choice..

What's happened to Khurram Manzoor? He top scored for Pakistan with a patient 77 in the last innings in Australia!

I think ZQ was always being groomed to become Pakistan's next wk so its not a surprise. In fact I think he's been our reserve since that tour. I've heard that he's simply a better keeper but Faisal could well be spot on that he has better contacts within PCB. That said, I do remember Xuhaib being a staunch supporter.

Played 5 test matches against England in England and averages close to 60. Not reactionary, he is a poor bowler and surely you would recognise that being from Essex.
5 tests isn't enough to judge him in England. The guy is a legspinner, and will always go for runs. Usually he takes wickets as well, it just happens that he had a really poor match. For someone of his experience thats not enough reason to drop him. He's still a better test spinner than ajmal.

The only justification is if they replaced him with a seamer/allrounder, and use Malik instead.

England will have no trouble playing Ajmal in a test. He's not dissimilar to many county offspinners. At least a leggie offers something.
