Agree with that from what I've seem of both sides. As it stands, Bangladesh have a better batting line up than Pakistan.

That can't be true!!, aren't Pakistan meant to be "far and away the sixth best side"?!!Nah, they have 1 world class bowler, 2 world class young talents (Aamer and Umar) who will be prone to inconsistency, 1 very up and down seamer in Gul and the rest are Bangladesh all backed by the worst fielding side in the world
Those gloves are legal. There is a massive difference between the webbing that we used to be able to get away with and the (comparably) miniscule lobes that are allowed today.Re Akmal's wonder catch to get rid of KP:
2. Gloves
If, as permitted under 1 above, the wicket-keeper wears gloves, they shall have no webbing between the fingers except joining index finger and thumb, where webbing may be inserted as a means of support. If used, the webbing shall be
(a) ...
(b) such that the top edge of the webbing
(i) ...
(ii) is taut when a hand wearing the glove has the thumb fully extended.
I wonder who checks these things. The webbing in his case didn't look as though it was there for support, and I'd be a bit surprised if it were taut when the thumb is fully extended.
I'm not having a go at Kamran particularly, because all keepers seem to have equally generous webbing on their gloves, but either we play cricket with baseball mitts or we don't.
You do need to get at least a little bit of finger and thumb to the ball with these ones! The old rules could allow you to hold on to a ball despite it not being in any contact with your digits. This webbing is now most useful when the fielders forget you're only 5'8 and fling the ball three feet over your head...Thanks for that Neil. Your new ones still look like they would allow a fair number of "webbing catches" though...
Who in the Bang line up is world class, apart from Tamim?Shakib maybe but that is about it.Salman>Tamim and Umar Akmal>Shakib.Nothing much between the rest though. As it stands, Bangladesh have a better batting line up than Pakistan.
On the limited evidence we have so far I think it's fair to say Tamim is better than any of the Pakistan batsmen playing in this match. The other Pakistan batsmen probably have an edge on the equivalent Bangladesh batsmen, but Bangladesh have a better tail.Who in the Bang line up is world class, apart from Tamim?Shakib maybe but that is about it.Salman>Tamim and Umar Akmal>Shakib.Nothing much between the rest though.
Not sure about that.Sure Tamim got a couple of tons in England but Salman's got a couple in Aus.But you are right - and it hurts me as a Pak fan to say this-there isn't much in it.Pak need Younus and Yosaf back desperately. On the limited evidence we have so far I think it's fair to say Tamim is better than any of the Pakistan batsmen playing in this match. Batting overall I say Pakistan are a little better, but there's not much in it.
Funny line that if you think SA won it 3-1, at the same time ENG won 2-1 in WI. India also scrapped to draw at lords only because of weather. So stop that bloody broken track record of SA should've won 3-1..I didn't know you were talking from rankings pov. And you had included that in your table didn't you?
If you are talking about only last 3 years, then a team like India would've got only Australia and Sri Lanka to play overseas. Sri Lanka eg has not played SA since 2002 in SA.
England on the other hand, managed to concede away series to even West Indies. But for some luck, they'd have lost SA series also 3-1.
Summing up, it is a joke to say England deserves to be anywhere near top 3 atm, unless they manage to topple Aussies late this year.
Clive Lloyd played home Tests over 1000 miles away from his country. So did Courtney Walsh. What country plays their home game 800 miles from their country?
Funny you India is "descendant" (what does that mean), when Dhoni as captain is yet to lose a series, while Strauss has managed to lose one to West Indies of all teams.Funny line that if you think SA won it 3-1, at the same time ENG won 2-1 in WI. As far as England not belonging top 3, see their record once strauss came to helm, thats when the rebuilding started and they are on the ascendancy.. While all other teams above them with the exception of SA are descendant.
Pretty much all Indians do. So do Australians I guess.Clive Lloyd played home Tests over 1000 miles away from his country. So did Courtney Walsh.
Not quite - a West Australian playing in Brisbane is still playing in his own countryPretty much all Indians do. So do Australians I guess.
Apologies for the 3 AM blurry brained responseNot quite - a West Australian playing in Brisbane is still playing in his own country
That was hardly the point of my post though. It was more like what has England done to deserve a place at the top. That is precisely why the 3-1 remark was put in brackets too.Sir Alex, the point made by L Trumper which you've not faced up to is that you're using double standards in saying in the same breath "England almost lost 3-1 in South Africa" and "England lost to the West Indies". Of course, they could have lost to SA, but in that elusive hypothetical world they could just as easily have beaten the WI.
You can't have it both ways.
No worries. Not sure why I even bothered to post what I did about Lloyd and Walsh - I'm in a difficult mood todayApologies for the 3 AM blurry brained response
They are descending in the sense that, quick bowlers are regressing with the exception of Zak, they don't have a good spinner [harbi is hit or miss], and sachin is 37.. so are other two in middle order..Funny you India is "descendant" (what does that mean), when Dhoni as captain is yet to lose a series, while Strauss has managed to lose one to West Indies of all teams.
Dhoni's record as captain
P : 15
W : 9
L : 2
D : 4
Series won: 5 (vs Aus, Ban,(A), NZ(A), Eng, SL)
Series drawn :2 (both SA - although he captained only 1 test in the 2008 series, which ind won)
series lost : 0
Strauss's
P : 24
W : 10
L : 3
D : 10
Series won: 5 (vs Ban, WI, WI(again), Pak, Aus)
Lost: 1 (W (a))
Drawn:1(SA (A)
So yet to win his first away series as captain I see..
