Heading for a good finish. One of the Essex boys needs to step up and play a matchwinner - or even a matchturner: an inning's like Mahmood's that kicked it all onwards. I think it's Lancashire's to lose should someone bowl like Carter or Chambers did.

Will be stiff on Chris Wright, but not half as stiff as some of these throws have been for Cross...

Pettini gone to a Saj slower ball. Very good innings, should have built the platform for Essex to win this game. It's going to be close though, 20 off 12 is never easy, especially if Chapple bowls this over well.

Essex will only need a tie of course, barring a mass of wickets.

 Ridiculous batting from Foster this, where was he standing for that 3rd delivery? Should have secured the win from here, 5 off 7 should be a doddle. Going to take a miracle for Lancs from here.

Have to say Lancashire have bottled it yet again. Essex, who had a load of rookies playing and the odd hasbeen, it's not like one of their few quality players did anything special. Lancashire didn't have 'one of those days' where everything just went against them. They should have won that fairly comfortably. But they picked a team that wasn't really balanced and Chapple used the bowlers horribly.

Just six boundaries in 14 overs, this is grim stuff. Presumably the Taunton crowd are happy enough with it though.
Went to the game and got to say Northants are the worst team I've seen in a long time.

If they finished 4th in the north group, would hate to see what the bottom two are like.

Good finish clearly, but I actually fell asleep before the end. County cricket going on until after 11 pm is just ridiculous. Don't they think anyone has to work in the morning? I was watching TV in bed, but people had to get home - I wouldn't have thought there were too many trains running at that hour.
