*Official* Australia vs Pakistan in England

In Pontings case, just clipping the bails is not plumb
you can't tell that live...only after hawk eye said it was clipping bails...it wasn't even that high on the pads....i don't mean to take away anything from his innings...just saying...

Big difference between "probably should have been given" and "OMFG THAT WAS PLUMB WHAT A JOKE". Ponting's decision being the former.

Stoked with the way Watto has been bowling, showing the front line guys a thing or two. All 3 of Johnson/Dougy/Hilf have been waaay to short, and when they have pitched up, the line's been woeufl. Fingers crossed they sort it out in the 2nd dig if/when Ponting/Clarke give them a total to defend. Ponting was lucky, but there's no way it was "plumb", dunno what he was thinking padding up first ball again though. Looked awesome from there on though, wag

Just on Punter's LBW shout; didn't think it was quite plumb, but looked out enough in real time to me. One of those where the batsman hasn't offered a shot that tend to be fired out more often than if he had.

Will be so proud if we manage to win this.
Won't be TBH, Pakistan's batting has made this very gettable. And that still doesn't solve the lower middle order thing.

EDIT: Unless of course Ponting/Clarke beat their Janurary record.

Meh, we're not a perfect team but as long as we can show we have the spine to get out of tough situations I'd be happy. You can't expect the world from this side but you can ask for a bit of courage and if they show that today I'll be more than content.

True. But I feel we've done that already this year, I don't doubt their courage.

There's a difference between absolutely plumb and should have been given out.

When I saw it live I thought it was reasonably high

Seriously, there is no other team you would think could lose it from here (even now with the Aussies back in it) except Pakistan.

Aussies are the favourites with the bookies!

Rather than "could lose it", change that to "will lose it".

If Australia get 180, it's going to be ridiculously tough. And really... it shouldn't be.

Ah, makes more sense now.

I mean the difference between this and Sydney is that on Sydney we had two terrible days and one merely bad one so Pakistan had the advantage and the foot down for the best part of three days so recovery looked impossible, here we've had one terrible day and one OK one. A good day today will certainly give us the advantage.

A single day in test cricket very rarely decides the outcome of the test on its own, especially not Day 1.

Yesterday was more than okay for Australia, even if some of the bowlers didn't look too good and our openers failed. Pakistan made 7/110 and Australia responded with 2/136. Definitely our day.

Definitely our day, but I'm looking at this from the point of view of player-performances and while this has almost put the test back to neutral, Johnson/Bollinger is deeply concerning with their inability to adjust to the conditions. And their general inaccuracy.

But anyway. Hoping Clarke and Ponting make big ones today.
