Playing on roads against second rate seam attacks. Whoop-de-do.

Dravid is clearly past it. Laxman and Tendulkar maybe aren't past it yet but they're not at their prime.

That lineup is good not great.
Everything is relative. Please suggest a lineup that is better at the moment than that? Also it is hard on South Africa, NZ (in NZ) and Sri Lanka to be considered second grade lineups, isn't it?

Also 7 out of those 10 tests produced results (India winning 6, SA winning 1) and one of them almost did (against NZ). Harsh to consider those as roads.

Too harsh really. As barring Gambhir everyone in top 5 plus Dhoni averages above 50.

There have been two Tests played against South Africa, in pretty flat conditions, since the start of 2009. Steyn managed to destroy that batting lineup in one of the games. The rest of the matches are against popgun seam attacks on pretty flat pitches. You've got matches against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. The fact that the India lineup across the board averages so much in that period should tell you something.

It's a completely different game coming up against proper seam attacks. It is a complete different playing away from the sub-continent.

He's converted to Islam, planning on growing a Grace beard to boost his batting average.
No but seriously what is it? Anyone knows?

Although i wouldn't be surprised because look what it did to Mohammad Yousuf right after he converted....Clarke might be up for it considering his terrible form recently.

If we lose this the selectors will be forced to make some changes and the players I would be looking to remove are the 2 WA players, North and Johnson.

1 Hughes 2 Katich 3 Ponting 4 Clarke 5 Hussey 6 Watson 7 Haddin 8 Hauritz 9 Hilfenhaus 10 Siddle 11 Bollinger is the XI I would like to see at our best.

I think Usman Khawaja and Shaun Marsh are our next best batting options. Khawaja must be very close to making his debut in place of the ageing Mike Hussey. Shaun Marsh's record doesn't look that flash, but I like his technique, think he will eventually take over Ponting at 3.

Our next quick in line is Ryan Harris, who will be putting pressure on all 3 quicks and depending on conditions might even be a better option than the 3 I've named.

Good to see how Social is being as gracious as usual when things go wrong.

I'd love to know what batsmen he'd pick if this lot is so useless.

Yeah, and it doesn't matter if we lose out on the matches that we play away as we play 70% of our games at home anyway and the thing that matters more for Indian batsmen is to be good on conditions where they play more. Not what they should play like on imaginary tracks that they are going to get once in a blue moon. Not saying that this **** is right btw, just the way it is.

"Pretty flat conditions"? I beg to differ as both matches produced results. Unfortunately these guys can score only against the bowling attacks they face. You still haven't given whom you consider to be the better batting lineup in today's game.

Because he is a sissy and doesn't want to face the new ball, get out early and screw up his average.....just my guess on why he is not being promoted to number 3....
He batted 5 in his 1st test against NZ - and then they moved him up to 3. I remember the commentators going on about how it was a terrible move - why would you move the guy after a great century on debut? Also his attacking mindset didn't go well at the number 3 position. Mind you, he was batting after Mohammed Yousuf in his first test. Politics in cracket - what a bitch ay?
