Hmm took a while for the wickets to start at Chester-le-Street. The weather forecasts around here are pretty much heavy showers x 3 with sunny intervals on the last day so it'll likely be swinging miles all game as well as being rain reduced.

Scaly, do you know why Chanderpaul is not playing for Durham this year? I know they said at the end of last year he would probably not return but seems strange he is now playing for another county.

They just decided not to bother with an official overseas player (in the CC) for whatever reason. I guess they didn't want to have to leave someone out (such as Stokes for instance). Injuries made it a bit of a mockery really.

Ramps strolls past 1000 runs for the season yet again, is he ever going to stop? 112 centuries now.

I was there. :) Always good to see a 100 by Ramps, in case it's his last, hopefully we'll get another season out of him if he sits out some of the one-day stuff. RHB's run-a-ball ton was the innings of the day though.

Is he beginning to look like he's over the hill?

Not batting certainly, all the old touches are still there; perhaps he doesn't throw himself about in the field like he used to but neither does Afzaal for that matter. I think we can put up with that in a batsman averaging 70-plus.

Another 5-fer for Rashid. God only knows why Bresnan bowled more overs than him. Interesting innings from Grant Flower.

Nice work. Played and missed at about 50 of them?
Very few play-and-misses, actually. It was by far and away the worst track I have ever played on in my life - here. I came in at 28/4 after about 16 overs and it was simply impossible to time anything unless you played like Afridi, in which case you'd make a few before one came along with your name on it, or just decided to stick. I went for stick, and my two boundaries came off the spinner who took 4/12. I was livid with the way I got out - Chapman's first ball, leg stump full toss, swung across it without having a look at the bowler first - cardinal sin. Proved to be about twice as many balls as anyone else faced all day...

I'm returning to action on Saturday, 11 months later, and for some reason am listed at 3 on the website. I am wondering whether this is batting order and can't decide what it would mean if it were...
