Why is it embarassing? After all, every other team has lost to Bangladesh in either 50-over or 20-over cricket at some point. Or do you mean the manner of the performance? We really should be thinking of taking the powerplay in the next couple of overs. Trott can't seem to buy a run at the minute, is just plodding around blocking and hitting it at fielders. Forcing Mashrafe to bring the field up would allow us to up the run rate, and a good 5 overs could potentially put us out of sight in the game. If we could go at 10 an over in those 5, then the match is effectively ours. It's pointless leaving the powerplay until the last 10, as by then we'll either have collapsed further, or be pretty close to victory anyway.
OK, maybe not. Wright chucks his wicket away as I type that. This is embarrassing.
Agreed that Trott's been way too slow and, as I said, the strangest thing is that he actually started off brightly (got a couple of boundaries off his first 10 or so balls) and then retreated further back into his shell as the innings went on. Maybe, just maybe, with that last-over boundary he's finally realised that we need to start scoring quickly though. As it stands Trott is backing England itno rather a quandry. The manner of the performance Flyonthewall; been a dire batting performance thus far.
Does Trott realise that we now need 6 runs an over? I appreciate the fact that he hasn't chucked his wickets away like the other muppets, but 40odd* off 80odd deliveries really isn't good enough against these boys, on this pitch. There aren't any demons in this pitch, and this attack is nowhere near as good as we're making them look. If Trott had batted properly this would have been Englands to lose, as it happens, we're now going to really struggle to win. If Trott ends up chucking his wicket away after batting like this, I'm going to be annoyed. Have no confidence in taking him to the WC if he's going to be batting like this. How's he going to manage to score quickly in the subcontinent where the wickets are slower, and the spin bowling will be better than this?
50 for Trott. Meh. He better go on and win the game after batting like this.
Yeah, there is that impression.Seems to be one of those players - and Ramprakash was another - who feels he's playing for his place every time he plays for England. Obviously doesn't feel secure in the set-up, perhaps imagining that some people are just waiting for him to fail.
Depends if Bell can man up. I have no doubt the doctors advise him not to bat but when you have a rep as a bit of a soft-**** then coming out when injured and helping win a game would be very useful.Game over?
