With flibberty gone too and Richard on a self-imposed exile and therefore not requiring a ban I would suggest it is probably a case of irrational (but understandable) prejudice against those who originate from the wrong side of the Pennines
Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold your horses. I dont think Richard originated from the right side of the Pennines. IIRC, he lived there a bit as a kid but wasnt born there.

I stand corrected - I thought Richard did tell me once he was born in Yorkshire but now you mention it I suspect I probably misunderstood - after all every true Yorkshireman I have met is fiercely proud of their birthplace and I've never detected such a trait in Mr Dickinson

What'd Morris do?
See his rather pointless abusive post towards Voltman earlier in this thread, and then multiply it by 4/5 accross several threads directed at various different members (most of which have been deleted) on Wednesday.

My Dad constantly tells me how Yorkshire is the biggest **** hole in the world tbh.

It might just be coincidence but a couple of months ago Dr Gardner-Thorpe introduced new counselling sessions for hypergraphia sufferers at his private clinic in Exeter.

Anyway besides that, what became of Neville Cardus (the forum member that is)?

Listen to him speak, his accent is a combination of Yorkshire/Geordie/Devon.

Found it. He answered this to you

Richard are you a Yorkshireman?
Yes, though not as much as some.
But has answered this previously to me

I do indeed have a strange mind, haven't ever denied that. FWIW, I was actually born in Wales, to a Welsh mother. But my first memories come from Yorkshire - I was just 3 months old when we moved there, and had I been born a little later I'd be Yorkshire by birth. Yet my fondest memories almost all come from Tyneside.

I've always classified myself as three separate things really - Welsh by parentage (and birth - not that I care about that), Yorkshire by early years, and Geordie (and this remains what I feel the strongest allegiance to) by raising. I feel the least allegiance to the place where I've spent now over half my life, the last 12 years - Devon.

None of these are relevant in sporting terms, however. If I played sport, I'd play it as a Brit - which no-one would ever have any case for me not being.
FTR, as far as I am concerned, it is close to impossible to be a Yorkshireman unless born there though Im sure special and rare cases can apply.

Inclined to agree with that - Lord Hawke is the obvious exception that proves the rule

I hope it only applies to Yorkshire though - we're a broader church on t'other side o' Pennines (I hope )

btw the way some of you guys can locate these old posts amazes me - how do you do it? I've tried using the search facility but it almost invariably produces way too many results for the exercise to be worthwhile
