Like Hazlewood he is very raw but has lots of potential.Seems odd though that the Aussies have picked two rookies on this tour,if we did the same in the winter their fans and press would slaughter us.
Meaningless ODI series v Ashes tour. No comparison

Hmm..

This is truly dire stuff from McKay. He is an international and bowling 3 nb in 5 overs is ridiculously poor.

No i meant even for the VB series or whatever it is now. They'd still slag us off if we picked a couple of rookies like them.
Smith should've made his test debut as a batsman earlier this year and Hazelwood was a late replacement who has been brought for experience

Their selections shouldnt be criticised at all

McKay however ...

Collingwood becomes England's leading run scorer in ODi's. Nice work, not too impressive a feat when you consider that Ian Bell is Englands 12th leading run scorer in ODi's.

Yeah it is pretty bad.

Well done to him though,i presume he won't hold it for too long though as KP isn't that far behind him when you take the number of games played by each into account.

Well seeing as he is probably the worst overseas Yorkshire have ever had and that includes a past it Gillespie who used to bowl batsmen in then i totally agree. How the hell has he got anywhere near the international side?
Oz have used 17 different fast bowlers in the last 12 months due to injuries

His name eventually came out of the hat I suppose

Contemptuous from Colly. Just hit straight through the line.

Holding just made the not unreasonable observation that he wouldn't have played that shot to Harris. Or Hazlewood either, IMHO.

Aye, KP's not too far behind, but he needs to start playing properly in ODi's again. Has been dire in ODi's for a while now. Interesting to note that names in England's Top 30 ODi run scorers of all-time include Ian Bell, Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara, Michael Vaughan, Owais Shah, Matt Prior and Ian Botham. It's not a list packed full of brilliant players that's for sure.

Not really. He was superb for Victoria for a while and deserved his shot. Hasn't made the most of it but I'm sure he'll come back a better bowler for it in a year or two.

I suppose Colly is set to become the first ever England player to 200 ODIs ... hard to see him being dropped in the near future.

I was just wondering, with 63 needed to win, when was the last time England went 2-0 up in any series against Australia? My guess would be the one-day series of 1997, in the good old days when we played just three ODIs before the Test series. Went on to win the first Test as well, a massive false dawn.

That's what we thought about Plunkett.

Seriously though,he is 27 now so should be able to keep a decent line and length by that age which he hasn't today. You'd be better off persevering with the teenager as he has far more going for him than just youth.

Saw him bowl his first couple of overs in international cricket and it didnt take Einstein to work out that he wasnt that good

Fact is that he hasnt made the most of it because he's not especially quick or accurate and doesnt move the ball

Cant believe the selectors even considered him tbh

I went to 3 of the 4 days of that Edgbaston test, was brilliant.Highlight for me was Taylor getting the dogged ton under so much pressure.Great knock from a great player who i admire massively.

That bugger McGrath soon changed everyones ideas of a series win at Lords though.

Colly :)

In other news, I just have to share that I am a DIY genius, having managed to dismantle my toilet mechanism, fix it, and put it back together.

For me it's not really about the youngsters, just pick your best team and that's that. We thought McKay was part of that and the domestic evidence supported it, turns out he's not (yet) so time to find the person who is.

And really, that's what these matches are about, finding the right XI for the World Cup. Good to find these things out now rather than on the biggest stage.

Ha, lol. Great line from Gower. After Hopes pulls off a super sprawling stop from Morgan's rather creamy looking pull from McKay's half tracker "Prett good cricket all round...well, from the moment ball was struck that is."

Ouch for Clint.
