What An advertisement for one day has been this game. Indo Pak rivalry is best amplified in one days not in tests or t20s. In tests, both teams used to opt for safety and play defensive cricket and we know t20 is lottery. But one days promise results and offers chance for teams to come back. The match swung like a pendulum till Raina's six off Aktar.

tbh apart from the final 10 overs of indian innings the game was quite boring a typical post 2000 sub cont odi.

Shoaib went for plenty today, but I think he's going OK so far. Hope Jadeja is finally dropped, tidy bowler but can't play him at 7.

Anyone recall any innings where Jadeja contributed in a match-altering manner with the bat? I recall him saving total embarassment in a defeat, but I'd rather have Harbhajan bat for me in a situation like this.

Jadeja's dismissal was the turning point today in the last phase of the game .(Well Raina had gotten stuck till then too, but..)

Edit: Meant while playing for India. Domestically he might have done that, but so has Praveen Kumar a few times.

Anyhow Shoaib definitely will be an asset if he stays fit. Any other bowler would have been trashed for more runs in the ending overs, he bowled pretty smartly actually.

That's why Dambulla is a great venue. Big ground, so half bat swats / bludgeons wont fly for sixes as in many Indian / Pakistani grounds. Pitch has some life in both innings. If they improve lights, this may become the best gorund for ODIs in Asia when it comes to balance netween bat and the ball

His batting ain't good enough for the slog overs of an ODI .. In fact, he is the last batsman I would want in that situation. Honestly, I would even bat Nehra ahead of him. His running between the wickets is a joke.. He can't run all that fast at all for a youngster, his catching is atrocious.. The only reason people rave about his fielding is because he has a rocket arm but if that was the criteria, we should give His Highness AA a go. He will definitely bat and catch better than Ravi Jadeja...



As far as the match goes, boy, I loved the way Akhtar was shut up!!! He needs to realize there is a reason people don't sledge tail enders too much.. It is a no win situation, really. You get them out, they say you expect that. You don't, they say you lost the battle!!!

Yeah, Ashwin is a better spin bowling all rounder than Jadeja.
