As I said before, it looks very Bauhaus, which was a design school originating in the 1920s, so it already looks pretty dated to me.

I'm perfectly comfortable with the accusation of trolling, but I'm baffled by the reference to my views on modern architecture, which I'm not sure I've ever shared on these forums before

Its sad that in the flight to appear modern and impactful that those who planned this building have totally lost sight of quality. This building is simply brutal, it neither pays homage to its surroundings nor externally displays the more positive qualities of modern architecture. Indeed it appears far from modern to my view; someone mentioned it is very Bauhaus but in fact it is much more from the 60s tradition of out of scale brutal architecture that though influenced by that movement was a cack-handed interpretation of it, creating a negativity in the mind of the public, that has taken years to over come. If the idea of creating a red brick is the best the planners can do to represent the County, club and cricket generally, then we really are entering a new age of imagination free design.
Thankfully only the desperate are likely to copy that particular approach where by those who should know better sadly seem so traumatised at the thought of being considered old farts that allowing mediocrity to pass as innovation and a modern statement seems preferable, being modern for being moderns sake is valueless as the 60s showed. Far from showing cricket to be finally entering the 21st Century it shows it is deeply and confusingly rooted in the last.

The Media Centre at Lord's is at least stylish and modern. Not everyone will like it obviously but on the whole most people will like the look of it.
