The Big Red Thing They've Built at Old Trafford

BTW, there was this BBC documentary on a failed minimanilstic industry inspired architectectural style in Britain in the 70's. I'm no Ted Mosby, but this reminds me of that.

Hmm, I really didn't mind it at all tbh. I do like the Lord's media centre as well, great being inside it as well.

There are bigger problems at Old Trafford than 'The Point' IMO.

Surprised at the lack of punnery in this thread tbf. I've come to expect a lot of the denizens of this forum. "The Point? More like the Silly Point!" etc.

Indeed, probably the worst run club around.

Anyway wait till you guys see the monstrosity they've installed over the border. Reckon that's just about worse.

Presumably they're going to do something with the concrete terraces at the front. I'd guess it's meant to look retro or whatever the term is. The red thing has no style of any description and it looks instantly dated, in a bad way.

The two worst things are the fact that it is red, and that it completely dwarves what should be the far more significant pavilion.. It's like when you see those churches in Manhattan that look completely stupid in amongst all the concrete and glass..

Hated the Lord's Media center at first, but it's grown on me, and after visiting in person didn't find it to be that offensive..

I don't know why that thing at Yorkshire is remotely acceptable.. Strange that in a country where you need planning permission from the council to paint your shed a different colour, they can get away with things like that, and the MIllenium Dome.. Incredible.. I keep looking at that thing at Headingly, and in actual fact, I've chundered better looking stuff before..

I believe the Pavilion is going to be lifted up if they get the rest of the scheme through planning permission. Still don't like it at all though.

FTR looks like a 60's office block with a green curtain draped over the top

That to me seems worse than the red thing in the second post of the thread.

From the pictures marcuss posted those Red boxes look decently good to me.

That green thing is horrendous - Salvador Dahli meets Ludwig the Mad.

The red things seem, colour aside, completely non-descript. Rather like the international team that calls it one of their home grounds. Maybe that's why they painted them red?
