Scaly piscine

The only time he's had any success is when everything has already been put in place for him. Most managers could succeed from that position.

Proper managers on the other hand can build a team. Clown's influence on the other hand has been insidious. He has spent massive amounts and taken the club backwards. Now they're not even in the Champions League. Guys like Mourinho leave a legacy, that bearded **** has left a disaster.

Benítez is highly rated on the continent from what I can gather, so either he isn't that bad or the people talk him up know less about football then Scaly. It could work I guess as the squad doesn't need too many new players and quite a few of the squad speak Spanish.
Tbf he's been in England for a long time. I think we know how much of a clown he is better than those on the continent. Unless it was only when he joined Liverpool that he began his long-running policy of signing crap players, frequently picking the wrong team and failing miserably to organise his defences against set pieces.

Not with Cesc, can't remember who. Might've been Ronaldo.
Then again I might be making it up :)
Don't think it was Ronaldo but there was definitely a story.

Might've been Arshavin actually, wasn't there an issue over a £2m payment to break his contract or something?

£2mil is relatively not a lot though, bet he gets paid more at Arsenal than Zenit as well so it's like a short term investment.

£28mil though...

Gets taxed more at Arsenal, as he constantly reminds everybody.

Yeah, I wasn't sure whether Arshavin was going to pay that £2m or whether Arsenal were going to give him the money as part of his signing on fee. Which is why I likened it to the Cesc situation and the "illegality" of it.

Cannavaro is well past it, should never have resigned with Juventus imo, should have bowed out long ago. Good player in his day imo, but he's been prety poor for the last few years.
Still captain of Italy isn't he? Will be interesting to see how he goes in the World Cup. Can't imagine him having anything near enough pace to keep up with some of the players he'll be up against.

Pace has never been a hallmark of Cannavaro's game though. You don't miss something you've never had.

No but the guy's 36 now isn't he? Pace wasn't a hallmark of his game but he had it to a required level at the last WC. Obviously I'm not asking him to catch up wtih Ronaldo, Messi et all but if he's as "past it" as some are saying then it's not so much a lack of pace but slowness, which will be exposed.
