Hope that rumour is true, would be a potentially great signing imo. Injury problems are a huge concern though, another midfield player with plenty of flair who is permanently injured is not the most desirable thing in the world, but I suppose if he comes in on a free it is not a massive risk by any means, unless he is being signed as some sort of replacement for Fabregas (dire).

Gourcruff would be the most likely replacement for Fabregas. My biggest worry is that Wenger is signing Cole, a talented English attacking midfielder, has experience in the Premiership and has won a few trophies in recent years, to try and please the fans when in all honesty a goalkeeper/center half is a much bigger issue.

Hmm wouldn't worry too much about that tbh. If he can stay fit for most of the system he will do far more good than harm, and it's not like Wenger would be throwing away his transfer budget due to Cole being available on a bosman. If any sort of substantial fee was required to sign him I doubt Arsenal would go near him, and as Arsene has already stated how he wants to focus on improving the back line I would say this is definitely the priority. If our summer signings consist of Cole and 2 new defenders and a new goalkeeper (imagine a new GK is probably wishful thinking) i'll be pretty happy. Now just need to find a way of preventing injuries. Oh, and keeping Sol Campbell on in some sort of player/coach role would also be a very good idea imho.

I'd take that tbh, if a sale was absolutely neccesary. But I'd be much happier with not having to sell him at all.

Nah, not believing that.
Haha not my prediction, Arsene himself said ideally he wants it all done before Cup time. Using that as a barometer we're not looking flash right now.

Regarding Gourcuff, he's quality, the type of quality we should be signing before selling Cesc because if Barca continue to be degrading regarding their offers we can turn around to Cesc and say look we're bringing in top quality players and really want a run at it all this season. Fwiw, we do have the money even without selling first. Mainly because we've been selling first for the past 4-5 years now.

Really though, what worries me is we're not being linked to any really good quality centre backs or keepers. Regardless of Cesc we need to be all over those positions like a rash right now.

All those Chelsea-Liverpool games not ring a bell? I'd definitely consider them as rivals.

Try reading it with a different intonation or just properly.

The clubs aren't rivals, the managers are.

Think you'll find that that's how Scaly was/is reading it. It is Rafa we're talking about, not exactly a manager he's a fan of judging by SP's comments about him in the past.

By his then referring to teams I disagree and his views on Rafa are irrelevant as to whether Rafa and Mourinho are rivals.

They are definitely rivals because of those Champions League games (Rafa and Mourinho) is what I said. Not sure what definition of rivalry you're using to say otherwise.

Are they **** rivals. Clown is a useless sack of ****e who fluked the Champions League on penalties. Mourinho is probably the best manager around, as far as current club managers go. They're about as much rivals as Oldham Athletic are to Manure. A completely farcical statement on any level.

Benítez is highly rated on the continent from what I can gather, so either he isn't that bad or the people talk him up know less about football then Scaly. It could work I guess as the squad doesn't need too many new players and quite a few of the squad speak Spanish.
