Hales of Notts has scored his maiden first-class century with a six. Really has been an encouraging season for a lot of youngsters.

Jos Buttler clearly the stand-out, though....

Fantastic to see.. Bowled at him in the nets when he was a 12 year old kid looking for a sports scholarship to my school.. Took me apart, was promptly awarded it :)

Would say that Stokes and Lyth have been the standout youngsters so far this season followed closely by Buck,Hussain and Woakes.Plenty around doing well though so it is very encouraging for the future.

Are any Yorkshire batsman able to score at a decent rate?

They are in a pretty good position to press on, but as usual they refuse to.

Probably got last season on their mind when Somerset chased down 400 odd on the last day.Don't want to get caught by the same trick again.

Whats the deal with the England A players being away from their Counties during a round of matches?

I dont like that at all. Not fair on the counties or the players.

Should be an interesting chase for Durham for the 100 odd runs they need, I think they will get the runs though. Good to see all the Durham bowlers in the wickets aswell, including Borthwick.

Massive day for Hants tomorow, cannot say I am confident, could be a massive turning point.

Yes you'd think they'd schedule things in a smarter way.
How many of these 'Lions' players have central contracts? On what authority do the ECB have to take them away from their County to play a meaningless fixture. The Counties are the priority ahead of friendly games. Also who decides the make up of the A team? You could easily rig games by selecting players that severely weakened certain Counties.

So when would you have scheduled it bearing in mind the length of time between the end of the T20 World Cup and the start of the Test series?

If the choice is now or never, then obviously the answer is never. You cant have players pulled from their Counties and the supposedly serious business of the CC (and before anyone makes a comment, it is still very serious business to a lot of people) to play in a pointless friendly when other opposition could easily fill the role.

If I was a County or a player then I would be fuming.

So if Andrew Gale gets an international cap because he has impressed this week do you think he will care that he missed the Yorkshire game at Somerset despite being captain?

We have to use the Lions team properly and that is by playing against touring sides,if it clashes with a county game so be it.Yorkshire are severely weakened this week with the loss of the skipper and the 2 who were travelling back from the 20/20 but you just get on with it.

It may have made sense to look at Buck of Leicestershire though seeing as they have no game this week.

Wtf are Slurrey doing not enforcing the follow-on?
Yes, some of us at the ground were wondering that yesterday. May well be asked again if we have them eight down at the end. I suppose RHB was protecting Tremlett, who's just come into the side, and Dernbach, who bowled quite a bit yesterday and isn't really a long-spell bowler. That only leaves Nel and Batty, and we want to make sure Gunther lasts the season this year.

The other question is why Younis Khan? The need for another top-order batsman wasn't obvious. Might be the end of Spriegel for a while unless he moves up to replace Evans.
