 Quality performance from Warwickshire. It's unfortunate they're not playing Hampshire really, as I'm sure we would have allowed them to get to a competitive total.

We've got Neil McKenzie in the XI, a former Test opener for South Africa, albeit a manufactured one, yet we make Liam Dawson open the batting =/ Where's the logic there? He's a talented young player, but surely McKenzie should be opening with Adams? His form might be pretty terrible, but it's more likely that he'd be a success there for us than Dawson.

We're in an ok position, but batting desperately slowly. Adams has bowled 8.4 overs for 8 runs with Franks bowling 5 overs for 6. I guess at least Adams and Benham are still out there, but it'd probably help if they scored some runs before chucking their wickets away. At least we showed a little bit of killer instinct with the ball, and stopped the opposition getting 400. They still shouldn't have managed 270, but it's an improvement. Think we could be a handy bowling side once we get Kabir back, and possibly Jones towards the end of the season.

Yeah I don't want to be overly harsh on Benham because I just don't think he ih hs good enough but he is not going to get more than about 35 so can he at least do it quickly, is a decent list A player afterall.

Got a few players later on though who can step up the scoring, still be pleasantly surprised if we win though.

Makes me wonder what has happened to the pitch overnight - if its back to being benign tomorrow Lanky might have problems

Fittingly its another young bowler who had to leave Old Trafford to get opportunities that is destroying us - Miller has 5/10 (IIRC he left because he wasn't even getting a game in the second XI)

Ramps

Anybody have any idea what Paul Franks' average with the bat is so far this season? Seems to be in the runs everytime I check the scorecard.
429 @ 71.50 and 18 @ 24.16. Not a bad start to the season

This young lad Stokes looks good for Durham. The first bat they have produced since Colly came on the scene who looks like he may be able to make the next step.Plenty of bowlers over the years but not too many bats, this lad could break the tradition.Good to see.

God throwing this one away as well, hardly going to get a lead at all at this rate.

There may have been a nightwatcman but it seems a bit ridiculous that someone who scored 237 not out last week and has obviously been our best batsman in the last few weeks is batting at number 8, has been left with tail on nearly every occasion in recent matches.

Yeah, why with him in such good form isn't he up at 5 or 6?

Seems the only logical thing to do really.

Nice of Surrey's popgun attack to play Strauss into form before the test next week.
