Alright, you've harassed me with enough Visitor Messages, and created enough threads that I'll respond with some points.
The first being that there was some guy on here a view weeks ago posting EXACTLY the same idea for a new format, with an extremely similar posting, and nagging "style". As I recall, he was banned for continually double-posting, for sending out VMs that were duplicates of posts that he made to lots of people, and not taking onboard anything the mods say. I'm not saying you're the same guy
, but it's an interesting example to learn from, no?
Second, we get that you want people to discuss your idea. Only that doesn't appear to be what you want. You're hectoring people to respond, but so far everytime someone's raised a valid question regarding your proposal, you've made an outlandish claim as to how that question would be resolved or accused them of not reading your posts properly. You don't seem to actually want any replies other than plaudits for coming up with a brilliant idea, even though it isn't a particularly good idea. It's not a style that endears itself to further discussion.
Third, as I've alluded to, there are many many fundamental problems with what you're suggesting, but undoubtedly the biggest one is how this would ever be financially viable. The reason these countries are currently associates is because cricket is a marginal sport in those countries, and few people in those countries are particularly interested in following it, much less paying for the privilege. That might change over decades to come, but a shiny tournament, no matter how well marketed isn't even going to make it onto television, let alone grow the game significantly.
Simply asserting that the BCCI will throw millions of dollars into it to make it happen isn't an answer - even in the obviously purely hypothetical discussion we're having, there should be some basis for your projections in reality. There is no prospect of a financial return, no immediate prospect of growing the game in India, and no other reason for BCCI to do what you're suggesting. You might as well suggest that the Martians will pay for it, because that is about as likely.
Fourth, the cricket itself will be dreadfully uninspiring for people used to watching the full members play. Some people claim that they prefer to see a good close match rather than a pure focus on the quality of the competition. Not enough people act out on that claim for it to have ever made such a prospect viable. People will watch sport because they are emotionally attached to the teams (national cricket, domestic leagues, IPL), because the best players are exhibiting amazing skills (international cricket, and in just a large enough amount the IPL) or because hot women are playing it (women's tennis). What you're suggesting falls into none of those categories.
Finally, the tournament you're proposing would be faced from day one with the stiffest imaginable competition in the form of the currently existing international cricket. I'm sorry but I, along with just about every other cricket fan in the world, if given the choice between watching Australia vs. Pakistan, India vs. Sri Lanka, England vs. SA, or Nepal vs. Ireland, am going to opt to watch whichever of the first three most appeals, not the last one. There's already normally more cricket on tv than all but the most dedicated fan can possibly watch and enjoy - suggesting there will be enough of an audience for a further, inferior product seems to me to be a stretch.
PS. I don't particularly like the Pro-35 format you've suggested either, but that's really besides the point compared to the other problems.
