Strauss not really setting the world on fire this season is he? (18 and 9 in this game.)
He's passed 50 only once so far in what, 7 or 8 innings?

Thought the rest he got missing the Bangladesh tour was supposed to do him good!

Looks like Panesar found a couple of Noah's Ark Ministries International members in the Leicester batting line up, they're 99.9% sure he spins it.

So it's 4 championship wins for Sussex and we're not even into May.

Joy, happiness and laughter abound, except from our Minor Counties correspondent, obviuosly, who's busy wondering whether his team are going to have to follow on against Yorkshire

Middlesex about to go down to Gloucestershire at Lord's - which will be their fourth defeat in a row. Hussain, who seems to have arrived out of nowhere (although he was connected with four counties before this season), has 21 wickets for the season at under 14.

I hear that Hussain cheats as he has a good action and bowls wicket to wicket.Too much for a lot of 2nd division players these days.

Ouch. Must have been some relief after breaking the 8th wicket partnership... then a 9th wicket century partnership... then to have a 10th wicket century partnership too. Particularly in an otherwise lowish scoring game.

Do you know if Howell is likely to get a game this year?
It is possible I suppose but would not rate it very likely.

Benham is quite obviously not up to it and I imagine that he will get dropped after this match which means that when Lumb is not available there is a spot up for grabs. Dawson is very much first in line though and Howell did not have a particularly good season for the second XI last year. Still if he gets runs for the seconds he may have a chance.

Did you play with him? Know he spent some time in Australia.

Would like to have Towers back, scored tons of runs in the second XI last year.

Shahid Afridi has managed to get his brother a trial as well,no idea if he has any good, not expecting all that much but you never know.

Yeah Woakes got a ton against us last year as well.

Made it all the worse that Tahir got a fair chunk of those, he really should be playing for us but we ****ed up over visa issues and let him go.

When I looked at Hampshire's potentially strongest XI before the season begun, I thought there was a genuine chance that they could push the more fancied teams right to the end. Now there is still a lot of this seaon to play, but their start has been surprisingly poor, that said, there are probably five changes that can be made when everyone is available.

On the other hand, Yorkshire have started much better than I imagined they would. Lyth and Sayers have been able to give them decent starts, McGrath has shaken off the worries of captaincy, and Rudolph, to be fair, has performed as you would imagine. If they can keep the majority of the bowling attack fit, they might spring one or two more surprises along the way.

That said, there is still plenty of CC cricket to be played.

Yeah, he came and played at the same club as me in Melbourne. Had a super year, 28 wickets and 500 runs, probably one of the best performances by an English player in the competition since Paul Collingwood.

The thing is the Yorkshire side are so young and inexperienced they could as a group be anything. That is going to be the problem though, when things are going well youngsters thrive but can they react well when things turn the other way?

We lack a couple of pace bowlers, hopefully this season Hannon-Dalby develops into a front line bowler we can rely on as it isn't good enough relying on Bresnan and Shahzad all the time,Tino Best is a waste of time if you ask me.The spin department is as strong as any in the country so we are fine there but how often do you need spinners in England in the pathetic summers we have had of late.

At least my fears of relegation seem unlikely now.
