Not arguing for Marsh but Smith is a very, very ordinary cricketer so let's stop carrying on as if the young kid (who is reputedly the "next big thing") has replaced Brian LaraNot sure about Gibbs but Smith is not involved in the West Indies set up so there is no reason for him to go home.
I think he has just been left out for Marsh tbh, which is awful.
Smith is not an ordinary T20 player by any stretch of the imagination. In the longer formats he is useless but in these circumstances he would be ahead of Marsh on merit particularly as he did nothing wrong in his last appearance. Not arguing for Marsh but Smith is a very, very ordinary cricketer so let's stop carrying on as if the young kid (who is reputedly the "next big thing") has replaced Brian Lara
Acording to cricinfo he has bowled 62 balls in his entire first class career and has a 20/20 batting average of 13.Yeah, exactly, Marsh is in the team as an all rounder, if the bats couldnt get the job done, why is the weight of the world on the 18yr old all rounders shoulders?
I like the kid. I followed him a bit in the U19 games. He's a future star probably but as you summed it, not good enough to be one among 4 internationals. To be honest, thought he played his role really well when Symonds was in. On a slow pitch, he just got the guy who was smoking them on strike.
It was a reasonable innings from a young player, but probably not what you'd be hoping for from one of your four internationals. Mind you, it's not appearing that easy to score at the death on this pitch, which isn't surprising in Delhi.
No, by all rounders I mean he will be batting and bowling.Acording to cricinfo he has bowled 62 balls in his entire first class career and has a 20/20 batting average of 13.
When you say all rounder I assume you mean he can field a bit and is good at carrying the drinks?
He has a 20/20 bowling average of 15. He averages 44 striking at over 90 in his List A Career. He captained Australia to the U/19 World Cup.Acording to cricinfo he has bowled 62 balls in his entire first class career and has a 20/20 batting average of 13.

Agree with this. Styris' omission is really puzzling as he is a proven matchwinner on his day both with bat and ball in limited overs.Yep Deccan are totally justified in getting rid of styris for this kid.
7 times out of 10 that was a boundary. Not a good one, but still a boundary.Sehwag fails again
Cricket Records | Indian Premier League | Records | Most runs | Cricinfo.comIs there any list on the internets (cricinfo or otherwise) for overall IPL career runs? I can only get a Statsguru output for each IPL for the year, or overall stats for every t20 played. I just want to see how many batsmen have scored over 1000 IPL runs and who has the highest average.
Problem is he's not playing Under 19 or list A, he's playing 20/20 with the big boys. He's had one good 20/20 bowling performance, that aside his wickets are averaging 69 a piece. He has a 20/20 bowling average of 15. He averages 44 striking at over 90 in his List A Career. But whatever.
