Yeah, exactly, Marsh is in the team as an all rounder, if the bats couldnt get the job done, why is the weight of the world on the 18yr old all rounders shoulders?

Not sure about Gibbs but Smith is not involved in the West Indies set up so there is no reason for him to go home.

I think he has just been left out for Marsh tbh, which is awful.
Not arguing for Marsh but Smith is a very, very ordinary cricketer so let's stop carrying on as if the young kid (who is reputedly the "next big thing") has replaced Brian Lara

Smith is not an ordinary T20 player by any stretch of the imagination. In the longer formats he is useless but in these circumstances he would be ahead of Marsh on merit particularly as he did nothing wrong in his last appearance.

To me it just seems as if there is a lack of logic behind these selections. I just really cannot see how Marsh should be in this team.

Acording to cricinfo he has bowled 62 balls in his entire first class career and has a 20/20 batting average of 13.

When you say all rounder I assume you mean he can field a bit and is good at carrying the drinks?

To be honest, thought he played his role really well when Symonds was in. On a slow pitch, he just got the guy who was smoking them on strike.

It was a reasonable innings from a young player, but probably not what you'd be hoping for from one of your four internationals. Mind you, it's not appearing that easy to score at the death on this pitch, which isn't surprising in Delhi.
I like the kid. I followed him a bit in the U19 games. He's a future star probably but as you summed it, not good enough to be one among 4 internationals.

Yeah agreed it was a tough situation, sluggish pitch etc, but still think it was a touch too defensive.

No, by all rounders I mean he will be batting and bowling.

Not many 18yr olds around with better T20 averages than him.

He has a 20/20 bowling average of 15. He averages 44 striking at over 90 in his List A Career. He captained Australia to the U/19 World Cup.

But whatever.

Two innings in a row Sehwag has done nothing, but only got out because of insane catches.

Gambhir needs to step up again.

Funny really Sehwag moved nicely for the first driven four, then his feet just planted for the similar delivery next ball he got out to.

Is there any list on the internets (cricinfo or otherwise) for overall IPL career runs? I can only get a Statsguru output for each IPL for the year, or overall stats for every t20 played. I just want to see how many batsmen have scored over 1000 IPL runs and who has the highest average.

Tbh, I'd be far more worried facing Sehwag in tests than T20

In the former, he is "slightly" more selective and once in, scores reaaaaallly big

In t20, it all appears a bit out of control and hence the average career to date

Had a quick look at the odds of Deccan to win after their innings, bet365 had them at 4.50. If I had money in my account I would have had a lash.

Problem is he's not playing Under 19 or list A, he's playing 20/20 with the big boys. He's had one good 20/20 bowling performance, that aside his wickets are averaging 69 a piece.

There are 8 IPL franchises that can play 4 non Indian players at a time. Are we realy saying that junior is one of the best 32 players around? Next thing you'll be telling me he will be striding out to play at Brisbane in November.
